Maximizing Cheers package

So I am primarily a wine drinker and am not very familiar with liquors. We are getting ready to go on our 3rd cruise with a CHEERS package and I want to know what are some of the more expensive liquors I could get in my drink instead of the well. For instance for blood mary what vodka should I upgrade to or for margarita which tequila? May sound like a silly question but I want my moneys worth ;p

Get your bloody mary with Grey Goose, that turns a 9.50 drink into a 12.50 drink. There's a Roca Patron at 19.50, but I think that's only available in the Steakhouse bar and would be a sin to mix with the nasty-ass margarita "mix" they use on board. Come to think of it, any margarita made with a mix is not worth drinking. Get the tequila straight up.

There's an average Macallan scotch you can find for sure in the sports bar and the steakhouse. Maybe other bars.

If you want to maximize booze-for-the-buck, stick to martinis and alchemy drinks. They have high concentration of alcohol with a low ratio of mixers. Things like frozen daiquiris have less alcohol and more fluff in them.

I get a Woodford Old Fashioned, which is a double shot of Woodford. After I tell my bartender a few times to hold the sugar, bitters, and orange - he catches on and just pours me a double Woodford.

Typically you can't get double shots with Cheers, but you can if the drink you order calls for a double shot - you can! :-)

Go to Alchemy Bar, if your ship has one. The drinks there are made with premium liqueurs, are strong, and very good.

it's not a contest, chill out and enjoy Cheers

Otherwise, as Coevan says, just relax and order whatever sounds good. If you don't like something, get something else. The beauty with Cheers is that you can be worry free :)

Like you, I am generally a wine drinker. I have read that the Steakhouse bar has better wine by the glass selections. You do not have to eat at the Steakhouse in order to visit the bar. Of course it will only be open during limited hours in the evening, but my understanding is that you can get some better scotch, wine and other drinks there.

I'll be checking this out in 32 days on the Sunshine. I'll report back to say what my "research" shows. ;)

Maximize your 15 drink limit, hand extra drinks out to fellow cruisers, get some beers with the caps on and same them for the ports, etc...……….

I think we have a troll:confused: handing out drinks will get you cut off from Cheers and you will not only still pay for it but every drink you had.

Are you insane? Please...…………….

Besides, I can take a sip and hand it off to the wife and complain the bartender did a terrible job, I can go to a different level or part of the ship and hand a beer off to a friend and go get one for me at the nearest bar and so on...…….. If you don't think that happens you are very mistaken.

And if you tip well, the bartenders will turn a blind eye:*

I almost saw this on my last cruise. A guy let a girl sip her drink just to see if she would like it and they cut him off. He said they then charged me for every single drink I had from day #1. He went to customer service and they gave him another chance of not sharing, lucky him.

Must have either been a poor tipper or done it in public. :'):'):');)

I did not say this does not happen I believe it does. However, to come on here and suggest to people to do that is what is insane! You have a lot of newbies that read these post, and what are they going to say when they get caught? This guy/gal on CC told me I could?

How much fun is it/ how much time does it waste to have to go to 3 different bars/parts of the ship to enjoy a drink with your wife and your friend? Why not just each order with your OWN Cheers package? Just curious.

I had also heard this but didn't know you could visit the bar without eating so I will be eager to hear how it goes for you!

I will certainly not be handing out my drinks to others, not only because this violates the rules of CHEERS but also because I have no need to let others drink my drinks to reach my 15 drink max. Between being an avid wine drinker and loving the coffee there will be no need to share as I will certainly reach my limit on my very own.:o

I have chilled out and enjoyed Cheers on previous cruises but wanted to try some of the more premium stuff for something different this time since I can. It doesn't mean I am not chilled I am totally chill ;p

Also on the note of the steakhouse I have heard they have a much better wine selection. Anyone know where I could peep the bar menu from the steakhouse. I love white sparkling wine and when I can get my hands on it champagne but the sparkling wine selection is pretty limited at most of the bars. There is a yummy brut rose I get from the casino bar (sometimes) and they also have it in the MDR but nowhere else.
