momof4girls Posted June 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2018 (edited) We’ve decided to rent a car after getting off the Liberty. What are some things to do during that “short” time before we need to be at the airport? ETA: We are three ladies between the ages of 32 and 65. No kids. We’re pretty easy going and dointmhave specific interests to fill. Would just like to find a way to fill those 5ish hours Edited June 22, 2018 by momof4girls
SteerageJoe Posted June 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2018 At airport by 2pm gives you about 6 hours minus 1 hour travel = 5 hours? You cannot do too much...and many places do not get going until about 10am. Not knowing if you have young kids, your interests, ages, etc I can only point you to a long list of things to pick from: http://cruiseportcanaveral.us/shoretrips-things-to-do-port-canaveral/
Trueblueky Posted June 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Shopping? Outlet malls on International Drive or Millennium Mall. Walk around Disney Springs.
RW20 Posted June 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Shopping or loose plans is a good idea because you will likely have time to use but stuff does happen and it did to me last time! In February I got of the Magic in Port Canaveral. We were in group 2 to disembark but the process was usually slow! Only one customs agent showed up for the whole ship! They had a cop clearing people and sending only a few to secondary where the customs agent was. Normally we can get to Disney by 9:30 am and this time we were getting to the airport at 12:30pm. KnightsFan Posted June 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Walk around Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Walk around downtown Winter Park. If you're flying Southwest you could also just get to the airport extra early and enjoy a nice dinner/lunch at Cask & Larder, a delicious local restaurant that moved into MCO last year. hrhdhd Posted June 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Shopping?Outlet malls on International Drive or Millennium Mall. Walk around Disney Springs. Just in case the OP tries to Google these options, it's the Mall at Millenia. It has a lot of high-end stores (Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton). The Florida Mall is closer to the airport, although it gets very crowded with tourists (see first part of sentence :)).
emory2001 Posted June 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2018 I would do the Orlando Eye or Mall at Millenia. You might have time for both.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted June 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2018 I would go to Universal City Walk hang out and then go to MCO and have early dinner or late lunch. We have done 3:30 PM flights and usually just go to the airport and a few cocktails and some food. That way we never rush to get off the ship and have a nice leisurely end to vacation. momof4girls Posted June 29, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted June 29, 2018 Thank you to everyone for the suggestions! I think the difficulty is because I will still have to drive us 3 hours home after landing in STL at 5:30 pm CST, so I would prefer little or nothing to do as it will be a looooong day. Orlando Vic Posted June 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2018 You can go on an airboat ride at Twister Airboat Rides http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/index.html ...and have lunch at the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/fishcamp.html When finished, continue driving west on SR 520 until it merges with SR 528. Continue on until you get to the airport.

Talked it over with my friends and we all agreed this would be a fun last day activity (we aren’t big shoppers and would prefer less walking). :)
Cruisin'Kim Posted July 2, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 2, 2018 We don’t fly out until 9:30 p.m. next cruise. Hyatt regency right in Orlando Airport rents day rooms. We’re going to rent one, have a swim n the pool, maybe take a shower and have a nap, have some lunch / supper, shop around the airport and then board our flight with no worries [emoji1] Sent from my iPad using Forums

I thought it just sounded like a good way to kill a few hours on the way to the airport, but my grandsons still rate that as the best day ever on vacation. I wondering what the heck are we going to do after getting off the ship...until I saw your post. Did you just called the Hyatt directly and reserved a day room? I like this idea...thank you for your help.

momof4girls Posted July 22, 2018 Author #18 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Kennedy Space Center is a good option near PC. I definitely want more time there! We are actually going to add a day onto our May Breeze vacation just so we can make a stop there. :)
