Forward / Aft cabin location...

Recommended Posts

When we first started cruising 27 years ago, our booked cruise ships ave sizes were around 42,000 tons. So cabins on the lower & aft decks (MDR also) can really feel the engines vibrations, so we always try to book more higher & forward locations, also at higher prices.

Today, after being on the Allure & Harmony, at 220,000 tons, we now hardly ever notice any ship rocking, noise, nor vibrations. So looking to book on the Liberty at 160,000 tons, our options between forward & aft cabins on the 8th deck, we're leaner towards aft, thinking that it's high up enough to not feel any engine vibrations & also in between MDR on 3/4/5th deck & Windjammer buffet on 11th deck, both aft.

Thoughts...?

Thanks,

If you really want no engine (actually propulsion) vibrations at all, then stay away from the farthest aft staterooms. I have felt vibrations on Freedom class ships on deck 10 in the aft facing staterooms. No problem around the aft centrum.

We have been in just about every type of stateroom, from interior to royal suites. Most times we have booked verandas at the aft end (larger verandas on a lot of ships) with cabins above and below ours, usually quieter.

Only when ships were docking did we ever feel vibrations enough to mention.
