Beachmomm Posted February 28, 2020 #4751 Share Posted February 28, 2020 We went with booking mini spa suite. And perhaps bid to upgrade to haven. Don’t think we would get a spa haven though. Is it worth to give up a regular mini spa suite for the haven? Has anyone won bid from mini spa suite to haven? Thank you for your help!

You could just factor in the cost of buying spa passes when determining your bid. If you upgrade from a spa mini-suite to a Haven, you will lose the spa passes, but those are available to buy separately.
kimandtim Posted February 28, 2020 #4753 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Bid just got accepted on March 1 Getaway. Got BB Balcony from an inside. Bid 255 which was a little high but I was in a difficult position because I was on a CAS comp but more importantly I had booked during a double points promotion that is going to put me at platinum. If I had upgraded directly I would have lost double points and being a comp I dont get additional free at sea offers when I upgrade anyway. Ship looks to be pretty full so I think I did ok.
Docb225 Posted February 28, 2020 #4754 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Also just received upgrade for March 1, Getaway departing from NOLA. Went from inside stateroom, IF, to mid ship balcony, BB. Bid was in the higher end of the "good" range, $300.00. Not a huge fan of inside cabins but at the time of our last minute booking, 2/20, it was all that was left so this will work just fine.

We're actually on a casino "comp" we received from a hotel in Vegas (in quotes because they charge a $140 per person fee for booking over the phone 😒). Had the below options to bid for oceanview or balcony: - Oceanview: $200pp max - Balcony: $500pp max I don't really have any interest in an oceanview but bid $150 pp for balcony which is our preferred cabin. Nothing has been accepted yet but I'll come back and let you know if it does. I decided to bump my bid up to $250 a person a few days ago and my bid was accepted today! So the overall cost for a balcony is $390 a person plus taxes. Not bad and a nice discount off the rate online. Now it’s just time to pack!
thedriver23 Posted February 29, 2020 #4756 Share Posted February 29, 2020 We had an inside on Dawn and we didn’t bid for an ocean view, as we where happy with location of cabin we did bid £195 which was high fair low good bid for Dawn cruise 15th Feb for balcony No luck - email sent 48 hrs before departure

Rare nikkiw60 Posted March 1, 2020 #4762 Share Posted March 1, 2020 We have just received an upgrade bid email. We are currently in a balcony cabin on the Getaway. The email shows we can Bid for a penthouse balcony from £310 per person. 1. How does the Haven compare to Yacht Club on MSC? 2. We have the drink and dining packages already as a perk do we get any other drinks eg champagne in the Haven included? 3. Do any of these cabins have a bath as opposed to a shower? Thanks!

I can at least answer #2 for you. When you get upgraded, you keep the same booking perks you originally received, so you will still get the premium beverage package. The only Haven suite that gets additional alcohol as a room perk is the Owner's Suite or Deluxe Owner's Suite. If you are upgraded to any other Haven category, you will not get any additional alcohol-related perks.

RolandofGilead Posted March 2, 2020 #4765 Share Posted March 2, 2020 In response to the haven questions: Additional drinks perks - the only additional items i think we received (outside of owners suites) was a bottle of champagne in the room at embarkation. You do have access to the haven bartenders who i am told make excellent custom drinks. I am not one for fruity drinks or martinis so i did not sample these. cabins with baths (getaway) - the two bedroom suites (on the breakaway and escape at least) have both a shower and a bath that have windows. The deluxe owners suite has a similar setup. The owners suite has both interior. The aft penthouse has both interior. forward PH has both interior. Spa and PH suite have whirlpools in the room. all of the baths/showers are separate i believe. Is it worth it? IDK, it depends on what you like/need at how much you want to utilize what is available. It makes sense for me. i have 4 kids and the 2 bed suite works perfect. One of the benefits I like is being around a smaller group of people for the week. I would rather meet a few people and get to know them better than meeting hundreds. If get somewhat overwhelmed by crowds it is definitely worth it. you can have your own lounger in the sun without having someone 5" from you. The priority debarkation/tender is awesome and definitely has a value to it. The butler was helpful but is not a decider for me. The concierge was very useful. for me the values rank: 1. best suite for my family 2. private area/ smaller subset of people 3. priority debarq 4. haven lounge 5. concierge 6. butler

We were originally booked in YC on MSC in Asia for these dates but cruise got changed because of the corona virus. It looks as though the perks for Haven are not as good as YC but I have put in a silly bid if we get the upgrade good if not que sera!

They are both great experiences. Comparing them... NCL Escape Haven and MSC Seaside Yacht Club. Haven Restaurant we liked better than Yacht Club Restaurant. The Haven Bar was fantastic for us. Great bartenders and we met some great people and just had a very fun time there. Yacht Club gets the edge over the Haven for the Pool. We loved the pool and they had a very good breakfast and lunch buffet. Both cabins were very nice. I'd call that even. I'd do either again given the chance...and we'll be back in The Haven on Escape in less than two weeks!

Aside from the other explanations, people do cancel at the last minute, things happen, and empty cabins appear. The bidding process helps the cruise line fill any of the higher end cabins at the last minute, ensuring higher income for that cruise. I just recently won a bid to Haven Spa on a cruise that had the Haven Spa rooms sold out for more then 3 months before we left (Feb 1st Escape sailing). Anything can happen, and it's not silly, it's insurance for them in case people cancel. Edited March 2, 2020 by oteixeira
