I'm flattered...so glad you enjoyed our favorite ship...so sad she is gone.

Hope you enjoy chester's book as much as Jill and I did...while we prefer Horizon and Zenith, the C class are very nice ships with great crews...6 weeks and counting until we sail with our newbies, Dave and Dale...Dave is a great sailor, I can't wait until he gives the Captain advice :D .

Enjoy the book...

Just heard from our future travel companions...they loved Chester's book and mentioned that it cleared up a lot of confusion...how boarding happens, where the bags go, what to expect from staff, how to treat staff...etc...obviously he did a better job educating them that we did...we took the "don't worry...we'll be there...it's easy" approach :p .

This is a "how to" book for cruising, worthy of Bob Vila....well done Chester...eagerly awaiting the sequel!!

I can"t put it down! I ordered "Midnight Buffet" as a surprise gift for my DH, but I have to admit I started reading it before he got home from work and now I can't put it down. Tom said that's okay, he'd rather wait until we're on the ship to read it anyway... only 4 more weeks! I hope he can hold out that long. ;) Thanks ChesterH!!

Danno, you said the Horizon was your favorite ship, just be glad you didn't take the last sailing on her! Although we had a very good time, I think Celebrity should be ashamed of themselves for not making it very special. They were running out of beer, different foods and on the last night everything closed early. The bars, and the casino. There was nothing to do after 10:00. At least we know now to never take the last cruise again. They even started to change the name of the ship before we got back to Philly.

I also order Chester's book for the hubster, I think he'll having an autographed copy.

Danno, are you reading his latest on the boards "Cruising with Mothers"? It's fabulous. He just doesn't write fast enough.:D

But he's on HAL!!! What was he thinking ;) ???

Mind you if X can't find a place in the gift shop for a small book, written by a loyalist that amounts to a 100+ page endorsement for Celebrity Line AND is actually a good read with humour and relevant information...then perhaps he should sail Princess next...odd management philosophy at RCL, ignore people who have good things to say about you...spend millions to drag in people who couldn't care less about you, beyond the lowest ticket price.

Dan, it was a momentary lapse, but we somehow survived. If X ever sails from Boston, we'll be first in line.

I sent personalized books and information to X's top executives and to the marketing department, but much to my disappointment, never received so much as an acknowledgement that they were received. A follow-up went unanswered. So much for the grand plan… To an engineer, marketing is a mysterious world.

I wondered what caused a brief spike in post-holiday activity, and I guess this thread is the answer. Thanks to everyone for the support – now I can blame Danno for any reduction in my productivity during the last week or so…

All the best,

chesterh

I just got off the Summit a few hours back (great trip) and brought that book with me. First of all, it's a great read. Thank you so much Chesterh. It was especially fun reading about your experiences in a ship very similar to the one I was on.

I'm going to take our "newbies" on an exhaustive tour of Century, with special attention to sliding glass doors...an ounce of prevention... :D

(OT...Jib is doing great so far...thanks all)

All I can say is wow. It was an AMAZING book. I loved it cover to cover. I just finished it moments ago....it was so real to me that I feel as down as if *I* had just departed the ship myself. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend everyone get a copy of this book. Thanks Chester! Although my first Celebrity cruise will be on Summit, I now feel like my first was actually Galaxy.

My buddy Dave just stopped by at lunch to tell me how much he was enjoying the book we gave him...he then stuck me with the bill for lunch!!

So...to this point I've paid for the book, and Dave's lunch....%#$&* you Chester!! ;)

Maybe what Chester needs to do is get hired by Celebrity to give a talk; then at the end he can sell/promote/autograph copies of the book as folks exit the room. Nuts to Celebrity.

Met a couple of "Bridge Class" instructors once on a cruise. Their cruise was no charge, all they had to do was give 2 classes a day on sea days. Their only expense was getting to the ship. I just wish I could do something like that, I would cruise non-stop.

You mean take time from thos highly motivational, inspirational "shopping" seminars...I can't believe people don't see right through those things...It's like the Shopping Channel at sea...

I agree, Chester would be a much better investment of time for pax.
