Love Sea Days Posted August 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Looking for your opinion for stay in Capetown before the cruise. Like the location and looks of the Cape Grace, but room rates on the web are all over the place! Stayed last year in Capetown after a cruise, but rented an apartment as the family met us prior to Safari... Thanks
Roxburgh Posted August 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2018 (edited) We stayed at the Twelve Apostles. Liked the out-of-town location and the ocean views. The room was nice if a bit small but it did have a balcony with ocean views that we used quite a lot. The concierge (Dane) was outstanding and set us up with two great all-day private tours (both with Robert). Dane also got us tickets for the cable car so we didn't have to queue. The hotel has a shuttle into the waterfront so that is no problem. Main downside was getting reservations for restaurants and the bar (!). Hopefully they have fixed that as I left a pretty strong review. But something to double check if you are staying there. Isklaar Posted August 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2018 For the waterfront area my first choice would be Cape Grace. If you wish to be a little out of town, I've stayed at Twelve Apostles and liked it a lot. Top choice in the whole area would be Ellerman House. Stayed last year in Capetown after a cruise, but rented an apartment as the family met us prior to Safari...Thanks Hi... we are on the same cruise as you. :) Last year we disembarked in Cape Town and stayed in the Portswood Hotel, Portswood Road. The location could not be better, a quick walk to the Waterfront and 5 minutes to the Cruise Centre. It isn't luxurious but really fine for what we wanted, we were barely in the room. Next March we are staying in the Protea Hotel by Marriott. We arrive late anyway so won't be in the hotel much.
DUHCAR Posted August 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2018 (edited) Staying at Parker Cottage the night before. It is rated as the #2 B&B on TA. Near Klee and Bree streets. Check out the Roll Call thread for this cruise. Edited August 6, 2018 by DUHCAR
TRIPACIAN Posted August 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2018 If you have been to Cape Town before, you might consider staying in Stellenbosch. It is about the same distance from the airport and is a delightful small town in the wine growing area. There are many nice restaurants and hotels. We are staying at the Olde Werf hotel on Church st right in the heart of downtown. We will be doing a wine tour and relaxing in preparation for our wonderful cruise! We look forward to meeting everybody on this cruise!
wripro Posted August 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2018 If you want to try out something new at the waterfront check out the Silo. It's more expensive but a really nice experience. Of course, you can't go wring with the Cape Grace, especially if you get a Table Mountain view.
