lincslady Posted September 30, 2023 #18626 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Sorry, too much in every way for me to cope with. Would you real foodies like to have a go? Lois, it seems the USA team have all gone down with a virus; maybe it is an excuse, but maybe it is true, which would not help them at all. Just hope they don't pass it on to our chaps! I haven't heard the announcers mention anything about a virus. They were quite honest and admitted we played very poorly yesterday and you played excellent. No excuses here. lincslady Posted September 30, 2023 #18629 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Well, it is still 9 1/2 to 2 1/2, so we are pretty well ahead. It is unusual, so we will make the most of it while we can! We don't often get the chance to crow a bit. ☺️

Below a better one. Hi, the system only gives you about 15 minutes to edit a post so of it beyond that time frame? It will just stay as is or you could email a moderator to have them delete it.

Camillus112 Posted September 30, 2023 #18637 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Lirio, enjoying your posts from New Orleans. Enjoyed visiting many years ago, when the most sought after restaurant was called Brennan's. Will never forget all their special dishes. Wonder if still open...

Lirio Posted September 30, 2023 #18643 Share Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Po-boy day. I couldnt get even 1/3 of it, but glad I tried!!! I will try Brennan's! History of Po-boy, from wikipedia "A po' boy (also po-boy, po boy derived from the non-rhotic southern accents often heard in the region, or poor boy) is a sandwich originally from Louisiana. It almost always consists of meat, which is usually roast beef, chicken fingers or some sort of fried seafood such as shrimp, crawfish, fish, oysters or crab. The meat is served on New Orleans French bread, known for its crispy crust and fluffy center." Po-boy comes from poor-boy...... lincslady Posted September 30, 2023 #18644 Share Posted September 30, 2023 I would love to go to New Orleans and hear some traditiional jazz. My first encounter with music, other than classical stuff at school was a boyfriend who introduced me to Jelly Roll Morton in my teens. I just couldn't stop tapping my feet, and it is the same today - on Saga cruises the band does a special concert of trad jazz, and all the 70+ age group passengers are tapping and clapping away. Just makes you happy and forgetting all your cares - which I guess it was originally meant to do.
johng75370 Posted September 30, 2023 #18645 Share Posted September 30, 2023 And if you have room after your po-boy, check out the frozen Irish coffee at Erin Rose (their po-boys are also excellent): https://craftandcocktails.co/2020/03/17/frozen-irish-coffee/ 1

Love the music, hate seeing the older jazz musicians passing away.
Rare drron29 Posted October 1, 2023 #18647 Share Posted October 1, 2023 We also love our jazz which is why we always stayed at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok. Jazz trio 6 nights a week at happy hour and shows with visiting musicians and/or singers. We especially loved Randy Cannon. Many of you may have seen him as the pianist on the first season of The Love Boat. We became friends of Randy. Unfortunately he passed during the pandemic. But of his medical issues not the virus.

Reef Knot Posted October 1, 2023 #18649 Share Posted October 1, 2023 I went to New Orleans about 10 years ago and seem to remember that even though gambling was illegal there were a couple of swanky casinos. Obviously I asked the burning question to be told that although gambling was illegal gaming wasn't. Is that true or was that just an amusing story?
