Taipei was very wet today.  After a 45 minute drive from the pier to Taipei our first stop was to the National Palace Museum.  It is Sunday and it was very crowded!  Next stop was the Martyr's Shrine.....

Tomorrow is a sea day.

We're heading north to Osaka and the heat has disappeared.  We're into "winter" wear here.  Pool deck is deserted and the Restaurant at lunch was busier than we've seen it so far.

We are into "wintry mixes" here so I think you're still doing better than we are! Right about 0C this morning and the temperature is dropping fast. So is the white stuff! Enjoy the cooler weather after the tropics.

Feeling is very much mutual Lifesgreat!  And you are quite right about the wonders of sailing with Silversea!  It is difficult to properly convey the experience to others.  You really need to experience it for yourself to understand and appreciate it!

Another wonderful evening with a lovely couple we met in 2016.  So much fun to catch up!  Very congenial crowd on this adventure!

 

Today we are in Osaka.  We leave from Osaka tomorrow morning for the much anticipated World Cruise event - a 3 day/ 2 night overland to Nara, Kyoto and the bullet train to Tokyo to meet the Lady Whisper.  It is cold here and folks may be scurrying to find warm clothes.

We flew back to the states from Tokyo on Tuesday evening.  Be prepared as it was quite chilly.  Too early to be in Japan for my tastes.

YES!  Definitely chilly here!  I wish I had packed my parka!  Myster and I did a walk about the Tempozan area today.

Today 180 of the WCers are heading out.  It's raining right now so it may be a very soggy start.

 

Yesterday we visited Minato Sumiyoshi Shrine while we were in Osaka......

 

 

Then we found Chikko Koyasan Temple.....

Day 1 of our 3 day WC event - a temple in Nara and a shrine.  Miserable morning with lots of rain.  Lovely lunch at the Nara Hotel.  Better afternoon with no rain at a shrine.  Chech in @4 pm at Kyoto Hyatt Regency.  Great location, wonderful cocktail reception and an excellent dinner.  All in all a first class, six star event.

We are getting so excited about joining the ship in Singapore.  We look forward to meeting everyone at the M & M.

Silversea website now shows that the Whisper stop at Mombasa has been changed and is now at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  Do any of you aboard know about this or why?  We board in Singapore and have booked and paid for the overnight safari to Masai Mara from Mombasa, so we wonder what will become of that.  If you have any info, please let us know.  Thanks.

Also one of the ports in Ghana has been changed.

 

wellseasoned .. the overland is still showing in the “activities” section of our itinerary but it is next to the stop in Dar Es Salaam.  Since it was supposed to be a charter flight from Mombassa, I am hopeful that  Silversea has been able to change the charter to depart from the new port.  Does anyone know how many are on that overland trip?

We just got back to the ship after the overland from Osaka.  On the day before we left (February 27) we got a letter from the Captain....

"Due to concerns about safety and security in Mombasa, Kenya and Lome, Togo it has become necessary to cancel these calls.  Silver Whisper will replace Mombasa with an overnight stay in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Wednesday April 3, 2019.  We will arrive at 8:00 am and depart on Thursday April 4, 2019 at 11:00 pm.  For Togo, we will replace the call with Takoradi, Ghana arriving Saturday April 27, 2019 at 8:00 am and departing at 6:00 pm.

 

With regard to the overland tours to Amboseli Park and Magical Masai Mara will operate as scheduled.  Future details regarding departure times will be made available."
