tybeelucy2 Posted August 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2018 New to RCI and I can't figure out the difference between a 1N, 2N and 3N cabin (all are ocean view). Price between them is minimal. These cabins are on decks 3 4 7 8 and 9 I'm currently booked in a 2N on Deck 3, towards the front of the ship. I've ruled out deck 4, due to being under 5 which has the Royal Theatre, Schooner Bar, Chops, and MDR (so noise is a concern) I've ruled out deck 7 due to being over 6 which has arcade, casino, Boleros, and the Royal Theatre I've ruled out deck 9 due to being under 10 which has the WJ Cafe, pool, spa, Viking Crown lounge and the rock climbing wall. So that leaves deck 3 (where i'm at now) and deck 8. Deck 3 has cabins front mid and rear left (I'm pretty close to the front now), all 2N Deck 8 has cabins all over as well, all 1N and 3N, including the very last cabins at the rear (not aft) I'm sure I'm overthinking this by a million percent, but any helpful advice is greatly appreciated!!:D

Forward or Aft seem to have the best views.
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted August 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2018 The ship is very small compared to all the other ships so taking that into consideration I personally would not choose one of the first 10 cabins, I would choose mid ship just in case weather is bad that ship be rocking more than the larger ships. Deck 4 is fine as long as you choose a room that is from the centrum forward, I have had rooms just above the theatre/lounge and if you think about it, shows end around 11pm, nothing goes on there in the middle of the night, never heard a thing. Deck 7 your room will be obstructed alot Deck 8 the lifeboats are not obstructing your room and you still can see out fine. Deck 9 in the aft there there is walking deck above you, so you may hear people walking up there or crew cleaning the deck and moving chairs in the middle of the night. There would be alot of traffic flow there due to people using the viking crown lounge, that would be my concern and the rock climbing wall is right back there also. If I were to choose the stateroom categories you looking at it certainly would be on deck 8.
pcur Posted August 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I'm going to disagree with Cruisegirl6 about deck 4. If you look at Deck 5 you'll see that on the right side of the ship, just aft of the Centrum, you have Future Cruise and Photos. This is a very quiet part of Deck 5. I have a cabin in this area underneath on Deck 4 booked on the Empress.
SailorJeff66 Posted August 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I cruised in cabin 4124. No noticeable noise issues from above or below. Some hallway commotion from time to time, but nothing dramatic.

bayou cruiser Posted August 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2018 I booked on deck 8 all the way forward since I didn't want to spend the money on a suite. These rooms face the very front deck of the ship so it gives the appearance of a balcony without spending the money. We'll see if my choice was wise in a week. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted August 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2018 Pcur - I said deck 4 is fine forward but you don't want to be around the area under the schoonar bar, very active place for people to go day and night and music and piano player and alot of traffic. When I looked at these cabins, it shows they are obstructed by lifeboats. I booked at the very back of the ship (not aft, but on the side), so let me know what you think about your cabin. We don't sail until December.
