s0479 Posted September 27, 2018 Author #26 Share Posted September 27, 2018 We decided to have some coffee drinks at Cafe al Bacio - a bit strong for us - we are wimps! After the muster drill we headed back to the room to unpack and watch the sail out of Venice. I’m so glad we were upgraded it was beautiful! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted September 27, 2018 Author #27 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Next was dinner at Qsine - over two hours. Some of the items were good - some were very good a our favorite was actually the last course a soup and soufflé. My suggestion- have them give you smaller portions. We had three people so they gave us at least two portions - it’s just too much food - at least for us. The bread was ok - but we didn’t finish - not so good as to fill up on The drinks were good and fun - Q jito, sangria and Moscow mule Salad and goat cheese - the goat cheese was very good. Lobster escargot- it was good though my daughter wasn’t sure - and no we didn’t eat them all :) I believe this was the Lava Cap I believe. Doesn’t look that good but I enjoyed. s0479 Posted September 27, 2018 Author #28 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Continued Filet - very good! But we only needed one! 8 different vegetable purée - actually very good! Our favorite- soup and soufflé Dessert - we ordered on “lite” dessert - coconut, mango, strawberry sorbet silver bullet. My daughter had given up and went to bed by then :). But of course they had to have some surprises - chocolate dipped strawberries and small creme brûlée. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

s0479 Posted September 27, 2018 Author #31 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I am also following. Will be there next May. Would be interested to hear of your taxi experience. $100 sounds very high, but I believe you said you were staying further out. It was 100 Euros for 5 people- could have fit more. It was sooo quick and easy. My mom had health problems and she has been a trooper but this was the one splurge and so worth it. Took you right up to the pier. Iamthesea Posted September 27, 2018 #32 Share Posted September 27, 2018 And we were done!!! I got attacked by mosquitos so had to go find some itch cream then off to bed - Were the mosquitoes on your balcony? It was 100 Euros for 5 people- could have fit more. It was sooo quick and easy. My mom had health problems and she has been a trooper but this was the one splurge and so worth it. Took you right up to the pier.s Oh, so a larger van type taxi. There will only be two of us, and we are going to take a taxi to the Piazza, and then walk to the train.
h20cruzer Posted September 28, 2018 #33 Share Posted September 28, 2018 If you don't mind may I ask what airline you were on and whether you had to change planes. Also were you in premium economy.? Thanks your pictures of Venice are wonderful. Norma I’ve read a lot on Cruise Critic and it’s helped immensely so I thought I’d try my hand at blogging as we go :). We booked this cruise in February 2017 so it’s been a long time coming! My mom and I started our journey September 20 with an overnight stay at the San Francisco Marriott Waterfront. We generally go down the night before so we don’t have to feel rush! We left for the airport on the hotel shuttle around 10:50 am for a 2:10 pm departure. Check in went smoothly as did security. We are on United 787-8 Dreamliner- I’ve never been in one of these and can say they are quieter and love the windows changing colors depending on the light! We were fortunate and got bulkhead seats so plenty of leg room. We are currently over the United Kingdom with what looks like to be an early arrival into Zurich. We have a couple hour layover then off to Venice! We are spending 5 nights there before our cruise. My daughter will join just in a few days for the actual cruise! Can’t wait!! Including a couple photos of the plane - Row 16 seats/legroom and some of the windows. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted September 28, 2018 Author #34 Share Posted September 28, 2018 If you don't mind may I ask what airline you were on and whether you had to change planes. Also were you in premium economy.? Thanks your pictures of Venice are wonderful. Norma We flew from SFO to Zurich on United. Then to Venice on Swiss. My daughter did Sacramento to Chicago on United then Chicago to Zurich on Swiss and Swiss from Zurich to Venice. s0479 Posted September 28, 2018 Author #35 Share Posted September 28, 2018 We docked in Koper, Slovenia around 7 this morning. This was the main reason I picked this cruise. My great grandparents are from here. Our first stop was Lake Bled and the castle - it was a little less then 2 hours away. Slovenia is beautiful and very green! You do need to take your passport into Slovenia. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted September 28, 2018 Author #36 Share Posted September 28, 2018 We stopped for a quick bite to eat. The sandwich was very good as was the famous Cream Cake. As far as questions about vibrations that I have ready about on various ships. We are aft and it has been very smooth overall, though when we docked this morning we definitely felt some vibration, woke up my mom and daughter. But it didn’t last long at all. s0479 Posted September 28, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted September 28, 2018 (edited) Dinner at Tuscan Grille tonight. We ended up getting half portions of most of the items but it was all very good. It’s a beautiful night. I’ll take some indoor photos on our sea day. ptrpanpens Posted September 29, 2018 #45 Share Posted September 29, 2018 Thank you for posting these great photos. I did the Adriatic in 2013 and it is still one of my favorite cruises. I would do it again except that the price has more than doubled since I took it. However, it is a great itinerary. I have been on the Connie twice before and looking forward to cruising again to France, Spain and Italy on her in three weeks, so will be following along on your blog with much interest. s0479 Posted September 29, 2018 Author #46 Share Posted September 29, 2018 Today we are in Zadar, Croatia- we decided to take an all day tour of Plitvice Lakes - a UNESCO site. It’s a little under 2 hour drive especially with today’s conditions- very windy between the coast and mountains but not to bad at the actual lakes. The area is beautiful and is a wonderful place to hike! It was definitely cooler there. Mid to low 70’s on coast and mid to low 50’s at the Lakes. s0479 Posted September 29, 2018 Author #47 Share Posted September 29, 2018 We had pre dinner drinks at the Martini Bar - very fun! Then dinner at Sushi on Five. We aren’t big sushi fans but we’re able to find plenty that was great and filled us up. Our waiter was great. We then had an after dinner dessert martini and some hot chocolate with baileys. Nice way to end evening! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted September 29, 2018 Author #48 Share Posted September 29, 2018 (edited) Continued - the various music in Cellar Masters, Cafe al Bacio and Dj on 4 were all good. Can feel the movement a bit more tonight. Possibly because of the winds. But still not bad at all. kikki21 Posted October 1, 2018 #49 Share Posted October 1, 2018 Ooh a hot chocolate with Baileys sounds amazing! I would love to visit the Plitvice Lakes, it’s one of the reasons why I would like to do an Adriatic Cruise for sure! That & to visit Dubrovnik again plus Kotor. s0479 Posted October 1, 2018 Author #50 Share Posted October 1, 2018 Next stop was Dubrovnik- what an amazing city! We did a food tour with a native Croatian that lives in the old city and was a teen during the war. It was a wonderful tour especially since he took us to parts of the city everyday tourist don’t see. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
