Not presently, but they may extend the chat feature in the Royal App to Symphony at some point.

The iPhone user needs the Hangouts app to receive messages from other Hangouts users. 

 

Messages sent from a phone using Hangouts cannot be recieved in iMessage. It can receive SMS messages from Android users but those don't work without a cellular connection.

Then I must be doing something wrong since it works for us. This will become moot real soon as Google has discontinued Hangouts.

 

Biker, who has moved back to the Google Voice app from Hangouts.
