Rare rafinmd Posted October 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2018 MS Volendam is on the first of a string of full Panama Canal transits., the first one starting in Vancouver, San Francisco, and San Diego. A cruise of this type (except for Vancouver passengers) requires a stop at a distant foreign port. On most of the cruises Cartagena will be the qualifying port but the first one is made legal by a stop in Aruba (she also stops in Curacao but by then the PVSA is satisfied). The Volendam is in port 8AM to 11PM and is the only ship in town. Aruba observes Atlantic Standard time year round which until early November is the same as Eastern Daylight time. The webcam is at http://www.portarubawebcam.com/ As with the Alaska season the sail-in will probably be more interesting than the sailaway. I will repeat this thread on the main HAL board if it comes back in time to do so. Next up: Veendam in Port Canaveral Tuesday and the start of the Port Everglades season Wednesday. Rare rafinmd Posted October 16, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 16, 2018 Oops, I had it right on the Floataway Lounge thread but reloaded the wrong draft. MS Veendam in Port Canaveral October 16, 2018 The Veendam will be in Port Canaveral 8AM to 5PM on her final call before kicking off the Port Everglades season on Wednesday. It’s her final call on her repo from Montreal to Fort Lauderdale. The Veendam is the only ship in Port Canaveral. I had been concerned that ship’s on port calls often dock at Terminal 1 which has very limited webcam views but the port schedule shows Terminal 5, where the ship must pass directly in front of the webcam on departure.
