Valor2005 Posted October 25, 2018 #26 Share Posted October 25, 2018 I know this is off-topic, but can anyone tell me the shipping cost of the $500 gift cards (I want to buy 2 of them) or can we opt to get an e-card?

Where do you get one and what is the advantage ft using one for whatever purpose they have? AARP has a program where you can earn points basically by answering quiz questions. You don't have to be a member to earn points, but if you are you'll earn them 1 1/2 times faster. You can earn up to 5000 points in a day. You then use these points to buy discounted gift cards. So, for instance, 5000 points you can buy a $500 Carnival gift card for $450, saving 10%. If you use them to pay for a $2500 cruise, you'll save $250!! Bostwick girl Posted October 25, 2018 #28 Share Posted October 25, 2018 I don't recall the shipping charge, but it was minimal. I do know that AARP no longer issues Ecards, much to the dismay of many. That information as well as how to get the cards thru AARP Rewards For Good has been posted on here many times. Very nominal...I think it's like 42 cents per card. I believe the eCards were eliminated because of the occasional fraud issue.

I believe, at some (maybe all?) port check-in's you can do it just prior to boarding. That's not entirely true........you cannot apply them directly, but on my last cruise I purchased Cruise Cash the week before and it automatically is added to your OBC account. But you have to mention it to them, it's not immediately apparent when you check in pre-embarkation.

You are correct - I was speaking from the standpoint of directly applying gift card balances to OBC prior to sailing. Cruise Cash has the one unfortunate feature though of being non-refundable. Also true, just have to be diligent and either spend it all or go to the casino and get your moolah back :)

I think this is where the gift card limit is coming from. According to the Carnival website: Number of Cards Allowed on One Transaction Q: How many Carnival Gift Cards can I use during one transaction/purchase?A: On carnival.ourgiftcards.com, you can place an order for up to 5 Gift Cards in one payment transaction; you may redeem multiple Gift Cards per transaction (9 cards per session). This is from their FAQs: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2004
