teacherman Posted November 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2018 We are looking for a Santiago hotel for a 2 or 3 night stay prior to our cruise out of San Antonio. Hopefully one with an early check in if rooms are available as we will arrive on an early flight. Just want a clean, safe hotel with some nice walking around areas. In foreign countries, we like to stay at boutique type places, but for this trip a chain type hotel is fine. Would like recommendations from cruisers who have done this. We have looked at Trip Adviser. Any information is welcome. Thank you.
rkacruiser Posted November 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2018 I stayed at the Sheraton Santiago and would do so again. Very nice pool area, very good breakfast buffet, a nice lounge/lobby area with a good bar menu if one did not wish to dine at one of the hotel restaurants. It is within walking distance of other restaurants and shopping. The staff was helpful and pleasant.
andrek Posted November 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2018 We are staying at the Hotel San Francisco. The price is moderate and a lot of people are staying there before our cruise. Pretty good reviews. In central area.
FredZiffle Posted November 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2018 We liked the Ibis Estacion Central. Very clean, modern hotel. It's only a block from a metro station that will take you anywhere you want to go in Santiago. Added bonus is that if you're looking to save money, there's a bus for a couple of bucks from the airport to the Alameda bus terminal, which is adjacent to the hotel. Also, you can take a bus from Alameda to San Antonio for around $10 IIRC.
iancal Posted November 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2018 We also liked the Ibis Estacion. Why? We arrived by bus from Valparaiso. The bus stop was less than a block from the hotel. There was a subway stop outside the hotel that whisked us anywhere in the city. Finally, we took a bus from the bus stations around the corned directly to the airport. The room was standard Ibis. Spotless, great wifi, compact. Reasonable breakfast. As was the Ibis in Valparaiso. IF you pay with your foreign credit card the VAT will be backed out. relaxatsea Posted November 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2018 We liked the Icaro Suites, just a block or so off of Corrientes and close to the Obelisk. Our room was large, clean and quiet and they also had a nice buffet breakfast. From there, we walked to most of the major tourist places. In the same neighborhood, we highly recommend Pizzeria Guerrin, and tha famous coffee shop, el Gato Negro.

Reina del Mar Posted November 22, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 22, 2018 We stayed in the Sheraton Santiago as part of a Princess package. We were picked up at the airport and transferred to the hotel by minibus taxi. After our stay a coach transferred us to the pier at San Antonio. Both transfers worked well. Te hotel itself was well located to be able to walk to the shopping area and miscellaneous restaurants. A Hop on/off bus stop was just outside the hotel to do a city tour. Breakfast was included as part of our package...wide buffet choice. Rooms clean although could do with a bit of updating if I am honest. Would stay there again if in Santiago again.
