That is true.  So is night 4 a second formal night?  I assumed there was only one formal night on a 5 night cruise.  That's been our experience in the past.

The second formal night varies by itinerary.

On a 5 night cruise the only formal night is night 2.  They do sometimes (depending on the ship) serve lobster on night 4 which is not a formal night.

This is our first time on this class and the layout is confusing. Yes deck four is not laid out very well. When you have the Schooner bar the casino then Playmakers all in a row that deck can be eliminated by some people. My wife for instance is very allergic to cigarette smoke so the Schooner and Playmakers are off limits for us. To get to the diamond lounge you can only access floor 14 in 1 bank of elevators. The staff is great and the ship is clean.

I have just read this thread and wonder how bad the cigarette smoke is on deck 4. I was planning some time in Playmakers on my cruise next year but both myself and travelling companion really hate cigarette smoke. I mainly cruise on Celebrity, they are  smoke free indoors, and I was aware that smoking is allowed in the Casino on RCI but didn't realise it was not contained. Presumably it can be a problem anytime when at sea during casino opening hours? :classic_sad:

Yes, it can waft up the stairs into the Royal Promenade.

Plus, the casino does not have to be open.  It is a 24-hour smoking lounge.

Thanks for the info. I read the smoking policy on the website before booking, so was surprised by the comments regarding the smokiness pervading other areas. According to RCI there is a designated area in the casino for non-smoking guests, how the heck does that work?

It looks like I will be saving some money on the cruise, which is a shame as I love the slots to pass some time of an evening.

Credit to MM, it's like having a no-peeing section in a pool.

We did spend some time in Playmakers and sat as far from the casino as possible with no problem. The same for schooner bar. I am an avid exercise dude and walked on deck four outside and the entire length of the port side is for smokers. My wife could not take that area at all. And Bob is correct as there is a stairway from the promenade down to the casino and it definitely comes up to deck 5 around that stairway.

Oh must do things. ICE SHOW is must do, if you are football fans Playmakers is a hoot, On the helipad at anytime while at sea. Grease was okay, the Headliner we have seen on every other cruise we have been on so didn't go, rarely saw the CD but no biggie for us. Let me say that really really enjoyed this ship and would go on her again

What is Playmakers?
