Boxerlover2 Posted March 29 #277 Share Posted March 29 (edited) Date of Cruise: 13 March 2024 Ship: Edge Cabin #: 11160 Deck #: 11 Cabin Category: Magic Carpet Sky Suite Cabin Location: Mid Bed Position: Positioned between closet / bathroom door and couch; bed was facing a wall with mounted TV. Balcony Type: Regular balcony next to Magic Carpet Balcony/Window Size: Balcony sticks out from the ship due to being next to Magic Carpet; extra wide and deep (photos attached). Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: The Magic Carpet "teeth" were sometime visible pending the position of Magic Carpet. Additional window on the balcony facing forward was very nice. The orange paint on one side of the balcony could be bothersome to some. Balcony Overhang?: Magic Carpet Issues?: Never heard or saw the Magic Carpet move pass our balcony. Noise Issues?: Our cabin creaked and popped loudly, all day and night during rough seas. We also heard what sounded like someone was foot stomping (although no one was). Noise came from all sides of walls and ceiling. The bathroom also had a minor noise of some sort of screw rolling back and forth in the ceiling wall (this was not heard in the bedroom). Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Yes, connects in a separate private hallway. Suite Details: We had to open two doors to get into our suite. One door from the main hallway opened into a small private hallway which connected to our suite and could also connect with another cabin. The second door opened into our suite. The table next to the couch was very large, but extremely low to the ground. We were not able to use the table to eat our in-room dining meals unless we sat on the floor. Advantages/Problems/Comments: See cabin noise issues. Would You Book It Again?: We would not book this cabin again due to multiple noise issues that the engineers could not fix. Rare 81Zoomie Posted May 13 #279 Share Posted May 13 Date of Cruise: Mar 26, 2024 and Apr 5, 2024 B2B Ship: Edge Cabin #: 10176 Deck #: 10 CabinCategory: S3, Magic Carpet Sky Suite Cabin Location: On the Magic Carpet Track BedPosition: By the bath/closet facing toward the aft of the ship. Balcony Type: Large covered with aft facing window. 2 upright chairs and table plus 2 loungers. Balcony/WindowSize: BIG! Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Orange magic carpet pillar on one corner. The aft view window is a bonus! Balcony Overhang?: Normal Magic Carpet Issues?: None. It only moved 1 or 2 times in 21 nights. Noise Issues?: YES! In rough seas with perpendicular wind conditions the balcony door and the cabin ceiling snapped, crackled, and popped loudly throughout the day and night. This happened on at least 4 days. We had “joiners” come look at and grease the balcony door twice. There was no place to move is as all suited were taken. No issues in calm seas. No noise from the main hallway. Wind Issues?: See above. Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Connects to another cabin through a separate hallway off of the main hallway. Suite Details: Standard layout. Bed is by the closet which makes it a bit awkward if more than one persons tries to access the closet at a time. Nice bath layout with plenty of storage. A/C was a bit quirky. It would cycle from being warm to being chilly. Advantages/Problems/Comments: Big cabin and large balcony in a convenient location. Nice bathroom. We had a higher coffee table which made room service easier. While we have read about the noise on the newer E class ships, we were surprised by this issue on Edge. It was obvious the cabin had other noise issues in the past because there was a shim in the ceiling. Would You Book It Again?: Yes and no. Would not book this cabin on an itinerary known for having rough passage. No to areas like Tasman Sea, North Sea, Drake Passage, etc.
Rare RK-NC Posted May 24 #280 Share Posted May 24 Date of Cruise: April 12-22, 2024 Ship: Beyond Cabin #: 9168 Deck #:9 Cabin Category: S1 - Sky Suite Cabin Location: just forward of mid-ship, starboard Bed Position: facing veranda Balcony Type: Regular (not infinite) Balcony/Window Size: Standard, with 2 small chairs and small table Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Regular full-length, no obstruction Balcony Overhang?: No Magic Carpet Issues?: No, cabin is about 10 cabins forward from MC Noise Issues?: YES. 5 nights of our 10-night cruise the noise was sleep-disturbing. Had to use 2 white noise machines, OTC sleeping medication, ear plugs. Bed even BOUNCED up a few inches one night. Noise was popping, crackling, like 2 cabin panels rubbing, and from all around, not just one place. It SEEMED to happen on nights/days in moderate seas (2-3 meters), but only when speed was high (around 19 knots); did NOT seem to be noisy when moving slower (11 knots) even in moderate seas. Wind Issues?: Only when sliding veranda door is pulled closed BUT NOT LOCKED. Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Not connecting Suite Details: GREAT cabin layout, amazing bathroom (never seen separate toilet "closet" on any other ship), very comfortable bed, plenty of room, lots of storage areas (hanging and drawers). Living room table was small, and balcony had plenty of room for larger chairs/loungers/table. Advantages/Problems/Comments: See noise issues and suite details. Would You Book It Again?: NO. Only because of the noise issues, plus the fact that Celebrity absolutely knows about the noise issues and continues to allow customers to book cabins with noise problems and doesn't note them (like they do for Obstructed View balcony, for example). If this were resolved, we would book Celebrity again, as the Beyond was a beautiful ship, the entertainment was top-notch Vegas/Broadway level, and the food was great; and most importantly, the service was impeccable, from butler to room steward to dining staff (especially in Cosmopolitan), and to the all the staff (even friendly cleaning staff in common areas like al Bacio). Balcony Overhang?: Magic carpet can be seen above, but normally not an issue Magic Carpet Issues?: Occasionally moves up or down past this cabin. Noise Issues?: None. Wind Issues?: None Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Door in cabin to connect to cabin 8210. Suite Details: Not applicable Advantages/Problems/Comments: Standard cabin, much the same as most others. The problem is the badly obstructed view and the balcony windows of cabin 8210 that can see into this cabin. From 8212 only a small part of 8212's balcony can be seen. Note the cabins above and below are 6196, 7206, 9206 and 10178 and they will have similar obstructions and views in from their adjacent cabin. Would You Book It Again?: No, due to the obstructed view and lack of privacy. Photos or Photo Links: www.cruisedeckplans.com has a photo from the centre of cabin 8210 looking across the bed to the window where the obstruction cab be clearly seen. Thejuggler Posted September 19 #288 Share Posted September 19 Date of Cruise: September 24 Ship: Apex Cabin #: 11228 Deck #: 11 Cabin Category: CabinLocation: About ten cabins Aft of flying carpet Bed Position: By shower room. Balcony Type: Veranda Balcony/Window Size: Veranda window Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: None Balcony Overhang?: From above Magic Carpet Issues?: None Noise Issues?: Veranda window seals very tightly when fully closed and it creaks badly. This can be resolved by opening it very slightly to break the tight seal. Wind Issues?: None Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: N/a Suite Details: Advantages/Problems/Comments: For a cruise in cold weather the veranda set up was brilliant. It is doubtful we would have sat out on a balcony, but aitying by an open window worked well. It is also useful to be able to keep the window open slightly if you want fresh air rather than aircon, especially overnight.
