From the HK Cruise Terminal website:

"On ship call days, there are free shuttle buses for debarking cruise passengers and crew to nearby MTR stations adjoining shopping malls. During turn calls, additional paid shuttle service is typically available both from the cruise line (e.g. to airport) and from the terminal operator (e.g. to Kowloon Airport Express and Tsim Sha Tsui area hotels, and/or Hung Hom Station). Please ask shore excursion staff onboard for details.

Taxis are inexpensive and relatively honest, but supply is limited during debark, particularly on weekday mornings. We recommend debarking independent passengers to consider taking a free or paid shuttle bus, and onward taxi/MTR/bus after alighting."

Since you have a few spare hours in HK, take the MTR to the Kowloon Airport Express Station.  There you can do early check-in (for most major airlines) and store your carry-on.  After a leisurely lunch, return to the Airport Express Station, retrieve your carry-on and take the train to the airport (20 minutes) and walk directly to security and immigration.  Keep in mind that security and immigration at the airport can take awhile.

Here is more information about the MTR Kowloon Airport Express Station..

Scroll down to see if your airline is serviced by the in-town check in.  As the video explains, there is a shopping mall, Elements, above the station with high end shops and some reasonably priced restaurants.  Also, there are great views from the Ritz Carlton Bar at the top of the hotel.  The hotel is connected to the shopping mall and the hotel is on the upper floors of the International Commerce Center, one of the tallest buildings in Hong Kong (it may be the tallest)   The MTR is very convenient and easy to use.

Had previously posted details here & HK's MTR website, links & free mobile app are easy to find, visitors/user friendly & bilingual in English-Chinese.

Integrated into the Kowloon AE Station complex is "Left Luggage Services" for a nominal fee, check the large suitcases direct at the airline counter (almost all major int'l carriers participate in-town check in services & issue BP,  etc.)  Might want to keep a smaller personal/cabin bag with "essentials" like meds, passports & smartphones, etc. with you at all times & check the smaller rollerboard there, until you are ready to take the 25 minutes ride out to HKIA, plan to be back at the AE Station 2 to 2.5 hours before flight departure - go thru immigration/border control, custom & then airport security - then out to your airline's gate / club lounge if you have access.

Taxi (metered - printed receipt is required to be issued, by law) fare from cruise terminal to AE Station, with tips - should run about (under) $100 HKD (didn't convert to your home currency) ... and, there is free porter services once at the station - typical import taxi will fit 2 to 3 adults easily PLUS 3 large suitcases, might fit a smaller one too & put the other one inside the passenger compartment - drivers are good bungee cording it securely for the trip.

Group fares for 2 from Kowloon AE to HKIA is currently $150 - a discount - only need one-way, ask the MTR employees about it, saved about $40 or $50 in total)  Discounts are higher for 3 or 4 travelers on the same group pass.

Octopus Card users with printed taxi receipt (same day with fares of $40 or $50 & higher) get 50% off their AE fares ... I'm not sure about stacking the discount, just FYI and for others with a longer planned visit/stay in HK.

Thank you. This is brilliant information.

Was hoping for a Coach tour where luggage is stored in lockers underneath.

A coach tour would be something only the cruise line would provide, check with Princess excursions desk

Thank you. We have looked under excursions for Hong Kong but nothing showing..let alone a post cruise coach tour. Was hoping for something similar to one they offered from Fort Lauderdale..visit to Dolphin Mall then on to airport....not even sure if they do that one now! Maybe we'll have to wait until we board.

Thanks for your suggestion though

Geez, I can't get ANY of the excursions to load on the Princess website. How annoying! I would try calling the home office for excursions (or, if you used a TA, put him/her to work for you 😉

We disembarked our Azamara cruise in Hong Kong a couple years ago but we were staying overnight so didn't see what options there might have been - I know many times this sort of pre-airport tour is offered but I can't say if it's common for HKG or not....

Methinks parking for a large bus in certain spots would make offering such an excursion impossible.
