genechin Posted February 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2019 We will be a group of 16 sailing from Copenhagen on Regal Princess on 7/4/2019 for 11 nights returning to Copenhagen on 7/15/19.. The ship’s shore excursions are all over priced so our group is thinking about DYI via HOP ON/HOP OFF(HOHO) buses or other alternatives if they are available in the following ports of call: 1)I am not sure of the location of Regal Princess cruise terminals in each of the below ports but Is there a nearby HOHO bus stop near each cruise terminal? OR if HOHO is not a viable choice can you recommend local tour operators at each of these ports? 2)What sights would you recommend visiting at each port? 3)Regal Princess is scheduled return to dock at Copenhagen at 5am on 7/15/19. Our return flight to N.Y. from CPH airport is at 430PM. We are hoping to reach CPH at 130PM. Assuming we disembark by 8am, we will have time for a tour up to 6.5 hrs to 130PM. However, we would like to keep the tour of 5 hrs or less. Would we be able to hit the major sights within the time frames mentioned? We would also like to keep our luggage with us on the tour and we are looking for recommendations from local tour companies to meet these objective. Can you help?? Many thanks, Gene Nynashamn (Stockholm) Helsinki (Finland) Tallinn (Estonia) Berlin (Warnemunde Germany) Oslo (Norway) Copenhagen (Denmark)
Clarea Posted February 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2019 With regard to specifics about the cruise line, such as the terminals used at each port, you should ask this on the Princess forum here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/
Rare Turtles06 Posted February 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2019 Gene: you've mistakenly posted in the forum for asking questions about how to use the message boards. Besides asking your Princess-specific questions in the Princess forum as Bob noted above, you should to ask your general port-related questions over in the Ports of Call/Northern Europe board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/116-northern-europe-amp-baltic-sea/ And your Roll Call, if there is one, may also be a good source of information as to what folks have planned in the various ports. Enjoy your cruise.
paradiselivin1 Posted February 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2019 Agreed with Turtles06. Check your roll call to see what others are doing to get a good idea. You didn't mention St. Petersburg which was our favorite port. We did our own private tour. You will need to either do a ship or private tour to leave the ship and enter the city OR buy a visa in advance. We do extensive research on this site as well as many others. To make the best of any cruise/excursions; you should really do thorough research.

Definitely HOHOs in those two and they come out to the port.
Jezabel2924 Posted March 2, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2019 We were on this cruise last August and found more reasonable options by booking our St Petersburg tour with TJ Tours and that opened up some very reasonable options through them in the other Baltic ports. We can recommend them very highly and the Guides in each port were fabulous! We were able to do tours that were small groups and to the same locations as the ships tours. Rare Essiesmom Posted March 2, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2019 Get a copy of Rick Steves' Scandinavian and Northern European Cruise Ports. He will tell you what there is to do in your ports, how much you can do in the time you have, and how to do it on your own. EM
