Taxi from Florence-Livorno for party of 10

We will be aboard NCL's Epic in May 2019 for our daughter's graduation trip.  We are 2 families traveling together with a total of 10 people, which is proving to be a somewhat problematic number.  We've planned private tours/transport for a few of the other ports, but are hoping to save a little money in Livorno by taking a taxi (open to suggestions) to Florence and touring on our own as 3 of the 4 parents have spent time in Florence previously.  I've read messages regarding the number of taxis in Livorno for easy transportation to Florence, but have not been able to find anything referencing the ease or difficulty of finding the same for our return from Florence back to Livorno.  We don't want to find out that getting the 10 of us back to Livorno is not as easy as getting to Florence as we will have a definite time to be back in port and on the ship.  Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with finding reliable transportation back from Florence to Livorno?  Any recommendations or suggestions are welcomed.

First of all, no taxi can handle 10.

 

Second of all, it is a solid 90 minute drive to Florence. Going to be very expensive.

 

A better idea is to train, or arrange a private tour/transportation.

If you find a taxi in Livorno to take you to Florence, they will usually be happy to arrange a set time and place to pick you up and return you to the port.

 

However, I also am curious -- I assume you are talking about more than one taxi, yes?

Cruisemom42, yes, we will have to take 2 minivans wherever we go on this trip, but neither family could decide which kids to leave home so we're bringing them all 😂   We're confident from what we've read that we can find 2 taxis to Florence, but are concerned about getting there and having trouble finding 2 to take us back.  Your response is encouraging - thank you!

We used Tuscany by Taxi - they picked us up at Livorno port and returned us to port. We set the meeting place in Florence (behind the Duomo) for the return to Livorno. You could give them a try: http://www.tuscanybytaxi.it/

Thanks, @dogs4fun!  That's exactly what we were wanting to know - Tuscany by Taxi is one of the companies we're looking at.  I appreciate your response!

It would make NO sense at all to try and find a different taxi to bring you back from Florence, as both companies would charge you round trip.  Whichever one you take from Livorno, arrange with them to bring you back.  They all expect this and will quote you a round trip anyway.

Tuscany by taxi at the port will quote you a round trip. We used them a few years ago to Lucca. There are a limited number of taxis. If you don't reserve ahead of time, get off the ship early or you may not find two.
