Bamboo Room Replacing Vintages Wine Bar

Vintages is one of our favorite spots on Oasis!

I loved Vintages on the Allure. They had the best sangria, and the tapas were wonderful.  On the Anthem they did not have sangria and the tapas had changed and was from Jamie's. Not that it was bad at all, just not the variety they had previously.

I was on the Harmony in Jan there was tapas in Vintages. It wasn’t very good but it was offered. I had to ask for a menu. I agree Vintages is usually fairly quite on Oasis class ships but this is a CD issue. Schedule events or happy hour there and the crowds will come.

The bionic bar is the biggest waste of space. How much does the robot cost to build and maintain? It is hard to fathom that the bar generates enough money to justify the cost. Then again I’m probably wrong because it keeps popping up on new ships.

The Champagne Martini bar is a great concept if Royal expands on it. Give the venue a unique personality. Make the atmosphere more inviting, the bartenders entertaining like on Celebrity ships and the drinks more creative. People will come. The busiest bars in the evening are those with entertainment.

Location, location, location.  Vintages perhaps fits Central Park better than the Promenade.  I can see the switch out making some sense on ships where it is located on the Promenade.  I am not so sure Bamboo Room would work on Central Park but Vintages as an "upscale" venue fits perfectly.

 

SImilarly, I am curious to experience Playmakers on the Symphony Boardwalk and compare to the location adjacent to the casino on Indy.  We just got off the Indy and I thought the location was pretty good and made sense.  Boardwalk has always seemed to me more like a daytime venue with the exception of the aqua theater shows.

Personally, I have always loved the Champagne Bar and have made it my "home away from home" on several ships.  It was generally a nice, quiet, relaxing location to have a glass of wine and read a book when the weather was less than ideal for sitting outside.  Our next cruise is a TA on Allure and I am planning to spend some quality time in the Champagne Bar and/or Vintages.  Will be sad if they take both of these places away.  Not everyone needs a kitschy theme bar to have a good time.

It's true, Vintages is way too quiet a spot. The only people we usually saw in there at night were ships' officers in uniforms and guests and other higher up staff with pins on nice evening wear. Hummm makes you wonder

Geez, I was looking forward to checking out the robot bar on my upcoming Anthem cruise. Do you all hate all robots, or just ones that serve drinks? 😛

We loved Playmakers on Symphony and watched the Champion League final there (even though Liverpool got beat 🙈) it was a great atmosphere and the even projected the match onto the Aqua theatre screen for those who couldn’t fit in. We are just off Voyager with the old Layout which was a totally different experience when watching sports.

I don't think anyone is talking about taking away the Champagne Bar. On some ships, it has been renamed the R Bar, but it was basically the same. Also, during the day, the Schooner bar is also a very relaxing place to be on most ships.

What made it appealing is the quiet and the staff's knowledge of wine. My wife is the wine drinker but once they introduced tapas and cocktails, I was all in.
