We will be on The Insignia this summer which visits Havana at the end of July. Can anyone recommend one of the vintage car tour companies? Would appreciate any suggestions regarding best tours to take as well as reliability of the tour company...thank you

We are on this itinerary, also  (see Roll Call) After checking around, we have booked info@vintagecartours.com  They mostly use convertibles, but due to the expected heat, we have opted for an air conditioned vintage hardtop. They seat up to 5 passengers, but we decided to go with just the two of us with a driver/guide. They will take you to a money exchange kiosk to obtain Cuban currency  (CUC) which is at a better rate than at the port. The pickup spot is a two minute walk from the cruise terminal.

Enjoy!!!

IF you go to the Cuba board on this site there is tons of info about private tours including those with vintage cars!!

Here it is:

BTW all the currency exchange places are regulated by the Cuban govt so the same price at all. You may be going to one that is less crowded but I doubt if it will be a better price.

Get a car with excellent A/C (or SPF 100+ sun screen) :classic_biggrin:

July in Havana will be brutal.

We used Oldcartours in Havana....with a driver and a guide...6 hours with the most interesting guide we've ever come across....her name was Lucretia...she tells it like it is....hope to run into her next February when we return on the Serena.

Havana tours with Blexie,  used him last March and he was fantastic! Link to his website on trip advisor or connect with him on Facebook.  May take several days for him to respond due to internet in Cuba,  but he was great.   It was a hot day in Havana and I appreciated the hardtop with air instead of a convertible.  Will try to book with him again next year when we return on the Sirena.

Greetings

We have used Blexie twice.  He is wonderful.  He taught english so he is easy to understand.  He does use hard top cars because he believes A/C makes for happier customers and he also says he doesn't want to end up with crispy fried customers.   Check his reviews, he is highly rated.

Good Sailing

Agreed! We used Blexie in August. We were a group of 10 and arranged for 3 cars. Hard tops with AC. Thank goodness! We did the all day tour in Havana and the heat and sun would have killed us!!

the convertibles looked awesome, especially the pink ones!  But, we had some very cool cars ourselves.

Blexie and his friends are great guides, easy to understand, bright, fun, accommodating, and provide a lot of information! Our tour was supposed to be 10-4, but we were running a little behind, and Blexie made sure we hit all the sites we were supposed to!  I think we got back to the shop at 5-5:30.

You can find him on Trip Advisor.
