Under 21 Venue for Smalls on HAL

I've read all the KBYG and searched around on here - and I can't find a clear answer. Which of the venues on HAL Neiw Amsterdam allow children under the legal drinking, and which do not? I assume the main dining venues all do - but I can't figure out if, for example, BB King Blues is strictly a bar, or would still allow non-disruptive kids to listen to the music?

 

I'll be taking my five-year-old to Alaska in August, just the two of us, and I just want a clear break-down of where she can and can't go.

I am not sure there is any lounge area that is banned for kids, they just cannot go to the bar.

BB King is not strictly a bar. I doubt there would be any issue with kids there. Yes, drinks are served, as they are in a number of areas, like the pool. But it is not just a bar.

everywhere.   the issue is the actual bar.. she should not be taking up a seat there.   there may be a lounge that goes to  18 or 21+ for late night entertainment.  any entertainment not suitable for the under 18 set would be marked adult only.  

 

Royal does designate one pool   to be for 16 and up only.  not sure if HAL does that.

When I took my 14 year old niece I was told that she could everywhere with me. NO restrictions.  

Obviously they won't serve her alcohol but she was able to order and be served Shirley Temples without me being present.

 HAL's aft pool is usually adults only, for the (almost all) ships that have aft pools.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I know the aft-pool is adult-only. The Lido one under the retractable sunroof is for families. I was just wondering if there were any age-restricted venues. In Canada, I was at a hotel for a conference, and I tried to bring an infant strapped to my chest *through* a casino to access the AYCE buffet located at the back, and wasn't allowed in. It was very frustrating, and torpeo'd my dinner plans. Like, one I wasn't there to gamble - I just wanted to eat, and two - how much gambling is a three-month-old going to get up to anyway? But no one under - I think it's 19 in BC? - allowed in the Casino.

 

I wanted to know if any of the venue on the ship were like that, and to make plans to only go while my kid is up in HAL Club.

I am sure you will be fine, some of these things may vary due to the event being held in the lounge but otherwise they are all access lounges.

Ship bars and lounges aren't like land-based.  You may take your kids pretty much everywhere with you.  On some ships/lines, after a certain time, late at night, they make a "nightclub" adult only.

 

You don't have to be "of age" to be in the bars, nor do you have to order anything!

Excellent! Thank you, that makes things a lot more clear. I just found it puzzling this wasn't expressly noted in any of the documentation I could find. My five-year-old loves to dance, and I think she'd enjoy tiring herself out to some of the jazz or whatever before bed.
