Wow, oh wow.

Thank you for sharing. I’m getting even more excited about boarding Prinsendam in June.

Are you on her final sailing under the HAL flag?  Hope you will do a live thread or report.

Crew are always fabulous on this ship.

We interrupt this thread for a special announcement.

Aside from the two people they have called for 3 times (everyone knows their cabin number now).  For a second, I thought it was a roll call member but thankfully it is not. Hope whoever it is got on board.

I’ve been watching the weather for Penza and with the wind gusts and rain they are calling for, I didn’t see how we could tender.

Our captain has announced that he will go to see but most likely we will not be able to tender there and, if we can’t he will head straight to Naples so that we arrive there in the afternoon.

An overnight in Naples?  Now that’s a rough life.

Just the little touches this ship does.  Most ships would have a sea day.

Reminds me of my first cruise on the Prinsendam.  We were to go to St. Tropes but a huge storm (the one Captain Gundersen had been avoiding by going 200 miles away from it) had destroyed the dock - so he announced it couldn’t be done and he was heading to Barcelona as he had permission from the harbourmaster to overnight there.

Our Naples day that was scheduled is all planned.  We might just have to do some thinking on what to do tomorrow.  We’ll wait and see.

No matter what, life is always good aboard the lovely Prinsendam.

I was really disappointed to to read your statement "Got our tiles but believe it or not - it’s the one that features the Veendam and Volendam & not the Prinsendam.???  Not a Stephen Card one either."

The Prinsendam was a favorite ship for my Dad (he passed in 2004).  He took our family on a Christmas cruise in 1998 and we have been cruising every since.  We are joining the ship in Dover and I was looking forward to getting the Prinsendam tiles.

Would you like to come inside the Latin church with me?  (That’s what our guide called it.

Typical of Samana Santa - Jesus has been laid to rest - the cross hidden and arms covered.  He will be resurrected on Monday.

Both churches were lovely.  Frescoes and two totally different styles.

Really lovely port and a wonderful visit.

Coming to you live as we sail a way from Elba Island.

Just a bit more for this port and I will only be one day behind 😉

I was sad not to get a Prinsendam tile but fortunately ours last year is a nice one and a Stephen card one too 🙂

Prinsendam is a class unto herself and I wonder if they have run out?

I might just ask 😉. Who kazu?  Ask?

Enjoy your time on the ship and your cruise.  I’m sure it will be great - at least I sure hope so.

Nice to see all the familiar faces!  Please give our regards to Martha and Tony and Diane and Paul.  Is Libay the wine steward in the Pinnacle now?  She was our wine steward in the MDR in Brazil, and we also knew her from previous cruises on Prinsendam.  Please say hello to her from us, also Teresa, who we didn't know as well as she was in the forward dining room when we were on board last, although when we had dinner with Jane and John there a few times, she was our wine steward.

Happy Easter to all!

Before I forget, here is the info on our guide in Ajaccio.  I didn’t book this tour (YAY) so I need the info so I can give him a review on tripadvisor when I get back.

And, it also gives anyone coming here info on his tours.  Brochure isn’t in English but not hard to figure out 🙂

I have already, Ann but I will again 😉

Yes Libay is in the PG.  She was there last time we were on board the P’dam too 😉

Happy Easter to you and Pat and everyone 🙂

DH better get out the motion ease and ginger pills for himself.

Captain is warning of 2.5 metre waves at least if the weather forecast holds.

Not too worried as long as the P’dam can head into them.  It’s only when it hits side to side that I find it bothers me 😉. She cuts through the waves quite well.

We’ll find out tonight or in the morning.

Dinner time.  I worked hours preparing it 😉 and just got the laundry put away (that took hours too 😉 😄 )

Kazu, If you haven't already done so, you might ask the Concierge if she/he has any tiles left. Of the two in Victoriann's posting, I received the one on the left from the Concierge.

That’s a good idea Barbara.  Thank you 😄

I will ask her. I don’t have the one on the left.

I actually bought one this morning after hearing they gave other ship tiles. There as at least one more from 2019 up for bid. It’s the one on the left.

eBay also had some that said 2002 aPDam 2. Isn’t that the one that sank?

That night was our Cellar Master night.  We had 7 of us at the Captain’s table so I decided it was high time we put the room to use and had everyone over for drinks and nibbles before hand.

I only ordered food for 4 and it was still way too much for the 7 of us but the samosas were very good.

Then it was time to head to the ocean bar for pre-dinner drinks.  It was lemon drops tonight.

The soup - at type of mushroom - way too much and way too salty.  Too sips and we were done.

If they really don’t have any left, Jacqui, I’d be happy to send you one or two.

Thanks Ann - that is very kind of you 🙂

I’ll manage though 😉

You are either up very early or very late - not sure which it is. 😉

Sailing past Ponza -it is so windy out that only now could I attempt a pic.

winds are at 40 miles per hour and expected to get worse so as the captain said yesterday - too risky to tender here.

We are headed to Naples and should have the pilot alongside at 1 pm.  We will overnight in Naples.

Weather doesn’t sound real great (and we have a full day tour tomorrow) but we can’t complain really.  We’ve had great weather until today so I guess we were due 😉

Tiogacruiser, the original Prinsendam  burned on Oct. 4, 1980.  No fatalities.  A book was published I 2006 titled Burning Cold.  It is still in print.  Congratulations on getting a tile.

The next day we were in Portoferraio (Elba Island).

We had originally planned to do a ship’s tour here but after the tender yesterday where a crew member tried to help by grabbing my elbow (he didn’t hear me when I said just my hand please) and the bumpy ride in the back seat of the van, I didn’t know if I wanted to deal with a bus today.

DH and I decided to forego the HAL tour and explore the town on our own.

The entrance to one of many forts - we did walk through it 😉

I thought this was one neat flower pot.

View from a terrace near the fort.  As you can see, there is climbing and hills involved here:
