sjde Posted April 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2019 (edited) We are planning our first world cruise or partial cruise and are wondering when is the best time of year to go to Asia, for weather. I think most only go in the beginning of the year though? What about New Zealand? Edited April 17, 2019 by sjde correction
Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2019 (edited) I think you're right about SE Asia at least, that the world cruises tend to go there in February/March. February isn't a bad time for that part of the world. If the cruise goes up to China and/or Japan, later would be better I would imagine--I know when we planned our February trip to SE Asia we decided to leave out Hanoi because it would be too cool. I've heard that NZ is very busy in December, around Christmas, with school holidays both for them and Australia. We'll be there in February, which is about as warm as it gets in the south part of the country, but still only "spring-like". Auckland will be summery, in the 70's F. Our upcoming WC will have ups and down, climate-wise. It'll be extremely hot in India and the Middle East, Malaysia, northern Australia too I guess. But some compromises have to be made--at least there won't be snow. Edited April 17, 2019 by Wendy The Wanderer
Heidi13 Posted April 17, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2019 The times to avoid SE Asia are May to November, due to Monsoon (rainy) season, with Tropical Revolving Storms (TRS) starting about June. Our our last WC, we experienced a TRS approaching the Persian Gulf in June. As Wendy mentioned, most World Cruises transit this area late January to March.
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2019 The world cruises we have been on have us visiting Asia in March. We have found this a good month to visit. For New Zealand it has often been February and we have found the weather to be nice that time of year. Keith
Go-Bucks! Posted May 30, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2019 Northern Asia was cool but pleasant in March, but it's been between very warm and hotter-than-hades everywhere else! Egypt last week was 124 degrees!! I got a sunburn through my shirt and the sun felt like a blow torch on my skin. The last few days in the Greek islands have been wonderful...71-77 degrees and dry.
