storage space on the Allure

Hello everyone,

Will be sailing on the Allure on 5/26! There will be 3 adults in our sea view balcony room.  I'm a little concerned about storage space (25 year old daughter has a lot of stuff, lol).

Haven't sailed on this ship before and was hoping for some reassurance!!   Thanks in advance!

tell your DD to minimize...

It was pretty tough for us in an inside cabin with an 8 yo. And we keep stuff to a bare minimum - no fancy clothes, just some shirts and tshirts and swimsuits.

The closet is ok, and you can hang a lot of stuff in it, and then stuff the suitcase under the bed. Some shelving... Not much though.

Shared with our daughter a few years ago. She is the queen of overpackers, likes to change clothes at least 4 times a day. DH also overpacks, he has to bring at least 2 weeks worth of clothes for a 1 week cruise. We had no problem fitting all of our clothes into a balcony cabin.

oh, that's good news!  How about luggage? Is there room under the bed if you open them up?

I have never had problems fitting our suitcases under the bed even when they are closed. If they are very high you just may need to lift up the bed slightly to get them in.

If your daughter has a lot of small stuff, I recommend a shoe organizer to hang on the outside of the bathroom door (or the wall, with magnetic hooks).

Shoe organizers are great for things like hairbrushes, combs, hair accessories (elastics, barrettes, etc.), lotion, sunscreen, aloe, hair spray, hair gel, lip balm, all kinds of cosmetics, charging cords for electronics, hats, sunglasses, Q-tips, nail clippers / files / polish / remover, OTC medications, pens / highlighters / sticky notes, etc.

Pretty much anything you'd have on a bathroom counter or vanity will work well in a shoe organizer, and helps to keep the desk area clear of clutter.  Having the organizer outside of the bathroom means that you still have access to all the items if someone is in the bathroom. You can also pack the stuff in the organizer at home, then fold/roll it up and put it in the suitcase... makes unpacking a lot easier!

I also recommend using packing cubes, with different colors for each family member.  This way you can keep underwear and socks in one cube, swimsuits in another, etc., and instead of having a bunch of items falling all over the place when you're looking for something, you just pull out the undies/socks cube, remove what you want, and put the cube back in the drawer or on the shelf again.  When you get home, anything still in a packing cube is still clean, and everything else can go in the laundry.
