kelsjoy1977 Posted April 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2019 We are trying to decide between Montserrat or doing a day trip to Costa Brava? Thoughts on deciding between the two? Thanks!
caripoo Posted April 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2019 YIKES....That is a hard one......If you want a beachy day, do Costa Brava....The other is totally different......You will love either.

Rare ollienbertsmum Posted April 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2019 I would agree that Montserrat is spectacular. In the middle of the summer it is also a welcome respite from the heat. However if you love to go to the beach... then go to the coast!!
matamanoa Posted April 26, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2019 Both are spectacular! However, the Costa Brava is so much more than just beaches. The towns of Pals and Girona are amazing and shouldn't be missed. Barb
livylotte Posted May 3, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2019 Costa Brava. If you don't mind hiring a car and driving you can access some pretty villages dotted along stunning coastlines. The seaside town of Tossa de Mar is lovely - beach, cobbled streets, tapas, usual souvenir shops, roman villa & ruins, fortified medieval town and castle - all free to walk round. You can hire a car from Barcelona - car rental office is a few minutes from the port. We've stayed here a few times on family holidays. The last cruise we went on we had an overnight in Barcelona so we hired a car and drove to Begur and stayed overnight in a stunning boutique hotel. Begur is also lovely - there was a festival the night we were there so that was an added bonus. Over all I prefer Tossa de Mar because there is much more to see and do and once in the in the town, you can park your car and walk wherever you want to go. iancal Posted May 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 8, 2019 (edited) They are very different. Only you can decide. Monserrat is very easy to do on your own. You can, or you could, by a day ticket at the rail store in Pl. Cataluna. It provides subway ticket, train ticket, and entry fee. It is very straight forward. We did it on a lpre cruise stay. I expect that this would be far less expensive than a ships tour. There is a good cafeteria style restaurant. You only want to do this on a nice day with blue sky.
