cormike1 Posted April 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2019 I see on the webcam where the ships dock. How far from the pier is the city itself? Is it walkable from the ship? Thanks everyone.
capriccio Posted April 27, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2019 (edited) Very walkable since the berths are in the area of the Mt. Roberts Tramway just south of downtown. This website has maps (view the larger maps) and more info: http://cruiseportwiki.com/Juneau Edited April 27, 2019 by capriccio
Ashland Posted April 27, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2019 Really just across the street and steps away...I think once you arrive you'll be surprised at how close everything actually is. We have always been on RCI which docks by the Mt Roberts Tramway. Enjoy Juneau a favorite of ours.
Glaciers Posted April 27, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2019 There’s one berth that is about 1 mile from the downtown/tram area, the AJ Dock. It’s not a bad walk on a nice day. They will also have a shuttle that goes back and forth from the ship to the tram area. Last time we used it, it was $3 a few years ago.
Eaglecw Posted April 27, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2019 You’re a lucky!! The Volendam berths at the Cruise ship terminal, that’s almost right downtown, it’s berth “D” on the little map and just forward of the Mt. Roberts tram. There is only one other ship in Juneau on the day you’re going to be there. http://claalaska.com/?page_id=1250
Eileen G Posted April 27, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2019 Here is a link to the Juneau cruise schedule which shows where each ship will dock. http://claalaska.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Juneau-–-JNU-2019.pdf If your ship is at the AJ dock which is dock A in the link above you will have quite a walk into town. However the Avis rent a car office is right near there. Princess usually uses the Franklin St. dock which is dock B on the map. It is about a 5-7 minute walk to the tram. Holland America always gets the best dock so they will be at D or E. If a ship has to tender they tender near E so they will be close to downtown. Pushka Posted April 27, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2019 We are tendered in Juneau at ACT berth. Presume that means we will be close to the Tram when we get off the tender?
luvteaching Posted April 28, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 28, 2019 When you anchor in Juneau and tender in you are at the AS dock which is a bit of a walk to the tram. If you look at this map http://cruiseportwiki.com/Juneau the tenders come in right in front of the "E" boat shape. Karen
