Arrival Time

Hello,

We have 1pm arrival time, are there an earlier arrival times than this?  I am platinum so I know that I can arrive earlier but my father in law who is 80 and needs to be with us has 1pm, all I know he is going on with us no matter what, at times he is unstable and needs a bit of help to walk, he can walk just needs somebody to hold onto.  But just curious whether there is an earlier arrival time than 1pm?  We are going next week on the Breeze and booked three weeks ago so had no arrival time choices.

There are earlier times but probably were all taken when you picked yours. If platinum you can arrive earlier but if your FIL needs assistance why not just arrive with him at 1pm? At that point you will probably have little or no wait at all in boarding.

He doesn't need assistance from anybody but us.  I will be staying overnight at cocoa beach and have to check out by 11am and I also need a handicap parking spot which are very limited in Port Canaveral so we have to arrive early (I am disabled).  We generally arrive around 10:30 and there never is a long line at all at that time.

Without knowing how strict port staff in Port Canaveral are with regard to arrival time and check-in, even though you're platinum if your FIL has a 1PM check-in time then that's when he will have to check in.

No one on here is really going to be able to help you with that.  There are earlier times, but since you booked later, they were probable already chosen.  You basically have three options: arrive early and hope they let him go with you, arrive at his time and you will be able to go straight on, or call Carnival and asked them what you can do.

Going by the OP's previous threads she's doing this as a Premier Casino cruise. Not sure if she boards later if  there are any events (casino host boarding reception) that might be missed.

You could keep checking to see if FTTF will open up.  Then he would be able to go through the express line with you to check in.  Other than that, you could go to the early/late line with him.  The past few cruises I have been on have had an early/late line where people who arrive either before their appointment time or after it can stand in line to check in.  That line is usually much longer, but it's still an option.

Is your grandfather in his own cabin, or in yours? If he's in yours he can board with you. If he's not, then as others have suggested, I'd probably call Carnival.

If all else fails and you need to get there early for the reasons you mentioned (I get the handicapped parking problem!) then maybe just try boarding altogether. You never know- if everyone in your party except him has Plat VIP boarding, then the port staff may take pity on you guys and let him board with you.

Yes, he is in his own cabin right next door to ours.  We don't see Carnival turning and elderly man of 80 years old away from us and making him go alone and or even waiting outside for two hours.  Not only do I need a handicap parking spot, but putting aside my disabilities now I wearing a knee brace (one thing after another) and need a knee replacement when I get back.  I can't see them having me stand outside for a couple of hours either waiting for 1pm, but we are on a premier cruise and our boarding passes say boarding zone is D12 priority my father in laws no priority (FTTF still not available) but boarding zone 11.

Carnival may take pity on him but the port personnel are contract workers usually hired by companies such as Interline. They deal with all cruise lines that come through their ports, so one day they might be working for Royal then the next Carnival and on the 3rd day NCL. So they try to streamline the process with these arrival times to have some consistency in scheduling. SO if the particular port is known for being strict about arrival appointments then they will be strict, unless you can get Carnival Corp to somehow mark his boarding pass as Priority as well. In fact his info may not even be available in the priority area if they are using the new check-in processors some ports have adopted.

Perhaps calling your PVP or Casino contact/host to try and help your family out. BTW are your bookings even linked that they know to have you at the same table for dinners, unless you have YTD, then without the linked bookings you might find out after check-in that you are at different tables.
