Made the Royal Caribbean Bircher Muesli

Recommended Posts

After Googling around for the Royal Caribbean Bircher Muesli I found the recipe online and its very simple to make and is so delicious. It requires no cooking just keep it overnight and add the chopped apples, Creme and voila you are done.    I cant wait to bring it to a potluck and see how well it goes over.

I am happy to report the outcome once people eat it!

Did you do anything other than just soak oatmeal in milk or water overnight?  That's what I've always done.  I usually add any dried fruits, as well, to let them soften.  Then add fresh things like banana and shredded apple in the morning.

The original recipe was from Swiss physician Bircher-Benner, a raw foods pioneer, ca. 1900:

1 tablespoon rolled oats

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk

2 teaspoons lemon juice

1 large apple, unpeeled and grated

6 raw hazelnuts, or almonds, chopped

Soak the oats in water overnight, blend in the remaining ingredients and serve. Makes one small serving. Nowadays most substitute some other form of dairy for the sweetened condensed milk and add other sweetener, like honey, if desired. Additional fruits/berries may be added on top.
