Ship is still being built.  Will have to wait to see pictures of aft cabins and see if they are partially covered.

Yes, I was hoping someone with “insider” information may know.  I’d like to book one for next March but not paying those prices if the balcony is unusable due to soot.

pcsunlover,  not sure how someone would have inside info; since this ship has not started sea trials; no passengers will be sailing until October

Someone involved in the design  construction could know of changes being made to address the problem.

I'm booked on the Sky in an aft PH on Dolphin for December. It has the most cover and a huge balcony. I'll deal with the soot if need be. It's not like it renders the balcony unusable. How long can it take to wipe down a couple of loungers? The room steward can deal with whatever else needs attention. As I understand the issue, the soot is only generated at night. A little soot is better than one of those 36 sq ft, postage-stamp size balconies along the sides of the Royal class ships.

I was recently in an aft PH suite on the Majestic.  The room steward cleaned the deck & furniture (table/chairs/loungers) daily.  The balcony was totally usable.

Thanks for the info about the Majestic.  I was wondering how the soot was doing on the Majestic.  Thanks again!
