My s-i-l is from there, and I was thinking of asking her for good places to shop

Please ask her, my husband needs a few nice tropical looking shirts. They have great Indonesian patterns. I could use a blouse as well.

Will do.  I always admired my brother's shirts when he was living there.  He probably knows some good areas too.  I'll be seeing them this summer, although it can wait, ha ha.

In fact we saw really amazing shirts from Indonesia at a shop in our winter home, Dunedin FL.  I wanted to buy one so badly, but they were $75, and I kept thinking...just wait a couple of years...!!

Out guide took us to a store in Surabaya as my wife wanted to buy some lengths of batik material. The store was huge with a wide range of batik clothing with countless designs - all very reasonably priced. I don’t  know the name of the store but I’m sure any local guide would know it.
