paid upgrade after final payment question

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before, I've searched and could not find it.

 

I'm currently in a balcony with 2 perks, 35 days out and fully paid, if I call in and pay the difference to upgrade to a spa balcony, do I get the 4 perks that are

currently offered? 

I'll call tomorrow and find out but, just wondering if anyone here knows ... thanks.

Upgrades lose the original perks and gain perks that are available at the time of the new upgrade booking.

Technically it is a cancel and re-book so you would loose your payment $$ as well. Pretty much after final payment the only way to upgrade is through the bidding process. However to be sure I would contact my TA or PCC.

I just did this 2 weeks ago, upgrade after final payment from inside to minisuite, my perks remained the same and did not change

I am sailing in 3 weeks and just upgraded 2 weeks ago. Prices on my sailing had gotten pretty low. I was originally in an inside and got a single freebie as part of my original booking. By upgrading (for about $100 each) we moved to a balcony and got all 4 perks!

 

My TA got this done for me and all I paid was the difference between my original fare for the inside and the new fare for the balcony.

 

You'll never know until you try!

Have done this three times on NCL. Perks remained. Upgraded from balcony to suite.

 

But all three of these were before the stupid bidding program was started.

What happens to the Pre-Paid Service Chargers, does one have to pay the difference between balcony & haven? Amount is bigger in Haven, right?

This is not at all true. You can always pay for an upgrade. As I recall you get your existing perks. If you win a bid, you always keep your existing perks.

Be advised that if you have used the free or reduced airfare promo, NCL has been making people pay the full price for air if they wish to do a paid upgrade after final payment.  Otherwise, it shouldn't be a problem.

I’ve upgraded a land based casino free inside at time of booking to OV, was offered balcony also.  I don’t see why they wouldn’t  give you one if you asked after final payment, get more $$$ out of you and fill a higher cabin.

We did this exact same thing yesterday for our August Bermuda cruise which has been fully paid since April.

We figured we would just pay outright for a Spa Balcony, and called.  While it took three attempts, it was ultimately successful and YES...We went from just 2 perks (SDP and UDP) to all four (they added the shore excursion and Wifi pkg)!  Frankly that was a surprise.  We were just trying to move cabins and pay a nominal up-charge to do so.

 

Word of warning - the two of us both spent a total of 2 hrs on the phone between three calls and a lot of "on-hold" time.  Be patient and if you do not succeed the first time, just say thank you, hang up and try again.  ALWAYS be happy and courteous with the rep on the line.  If you do that, eventually you will get the right rep on the line and they will get it done.

I will also mention that once they finished the change, all our previously made dinner and excursion reservations disappeared 😲.  

This morning, they have slowly been re-appearing on the MyNCL page for us, so someone must be doing some clean-up.  

We are waiting a day or two for the dust to settle and then, if any pre-paid reservations are still missing we will call back.

Thats 100% Incorrect. My wife and I have twice (after final payment) canceled and booked another cabin in a higher category. Nothing was lost, our TA did everything and the difference we paid for the upgraded cabin was the same total it would have been if we booked from scratch. I just did it 6 weeks ago for our cruise on Sunday, canceled our Mini Suite and got an H5 Haven. No issues, no problems it was on done in 2 emails. I saw the change our my NCL account within 2 hours
