Condocat Posted June 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2019 Can anyone tell me if Oceania provides a shuttle to the nearest town from here, either le Verdon or Soulac sur Mer? Has anyone done their own tour? I'm trying to getting out of the port to rent a car at one of these local towns to tour around the Medoc area on my own, however it appears this port seems to be locked up with the exception of the ships tours and the walk to town is a bit far and taxis are non existant from my research. Hopefully someone can shed better light on this and guide me better from their experiences. Any advice appreciated.

The shuttle list in the "sticky" thread at the top of this forum lists: Bordeaux (city) ............ Dock at town so no shuttle Bordeaux (Le Verdon) .... shore excursion required I don't know if the list is up to date or if there is more recent info. rundent Posted June 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2019 Docked there last year and had to take a tour to get out of the port area. Went to Bordeaux and liked it since had never visited.
2552phxcrzr Posted June 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2019 When we docked in Le Verdon on Insignia two years ago, it was a service call of sorts. No shuttle. O off-loaded tours and then the ship waited for the tides to turn and the water to rise in order to sail upriver to Bordeaux. I know at least one couple who arranged a private tour to the Medoc wineries from Le Verdon, but no other transport options were available. tunaman2011 Posted June 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2019 Greetings Just this April we were on Marina and after we moved from Bordeaux to Le Verdon there was a shuttle to Soulac Sur Mer. It's a cute beach town, but very quite when we visited since it was not yet season. Good Sailing Tom
Go-Bucks! Posted June 16, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2019 We ( the Insignia) just docked here in Bordeaux about an hour ago. No shuttle because we're right in the town center.
Condocat Posted June 16, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted June 16, 2019 Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply to me! Tunaman2011 you give me hope there will still be a shuttle running for my cruise to Soulac Sur Mer where I can rent a car. Amazing, when I called Oceania, they said no shuttles were running.... I'll call again. Again, many thanks for the help!
Carol From California Posted June 16, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2019 We arranged a private tour of the Medoc when we were in Le Verdon. It was a fantastic day. Contact Nicolle Croft. www.wineguidebordeaux.com She picked us up at the port and brought us back at the end of the day.
