Which one is better for a Beach Day?

We will be going to both Cozumel and Grand Cayman on our March 2020 Panama Canal crossing. They are one right after another. We aren't interested in the rays, turtles or dolphins or adventure excursions that are super expensive (the cruise is costly enough!)  My DH, and DDs (10 and 12 at sail time) are all over a single day of beach resort fun in the sun, but two in a row? Not so much. Cozumel is on a Sunday so our only option is Paradise Beach (Mr. Sancho's and Nachi cocom are closed on sundays) and for Grand Cayman we've been recommended to Royal Palms. So, the question is, if we are going to pick one beach day, and one walk around day which port for which? And, do you have a better option then these beach resorts?  I would super appreciate it!

Yes 7 Mile Beach on GCM is gorgeous, and RP is one of the better spots but more for the kids to do at Paradise (also a nice beach).

If considering staying close to the ship one day Georgetown is right there (no taxi or bus), and San Miguel May require a taxi(?), but San Miguel is more interesting to us. But both ports are very busy and commercialized, so the amount of activities offered for the kids at the beach is probably the main consideration...

Kids aren’t going to find much to do at Royal Palms.  In Cayman, Public Beach/Calico Jacks is a better spot if your travel party includes kids, since there’s a playground and a bigger area to run around.  Royal Palms’ main plus is a pool, but it’s adults only, and then it’s just lounge chairs on the beach for the most part.

  • 3 weeks later...

Cozumel it is Paradise Beach Club for the water, beach, activities and reasonable fees.  Then you can venture downtown, if you like to shop or just shop at the pier.

Grand Cayman, Royal Palms is nice and fairly reasonable.  Just sand and beach.
