Venice pre-cruise help please

Can anyone recommend a hotel that is close enough to the port to walk, but then also easy to get to from the Marco airport.

Look for hotels in the Piazzale Roma area. It's still a long-ish walk to the port but you can use the People Mover to cut the distance. And it's the the transportation hub/last stop for wheeled vehicles accessing Venice. You can easily get the express bus to the airport.

We recently stayed in Hotel Arlecchino over one bridge from Piazzale Roma. Friendly, efficient staff and a large room.

I highly recommend Hotel Olimpia.  I will be staying there for a fourth time in May. Fantastic staff, very clean, great breakfast and beautiful outdoor garden to sit out in and enjoy gelato.  Right next to P. Roma.

Another vote for Hotel Olimpia, based on strong reviews by a very well known travel website.  If you Google directions from the Piazzale Roma to Hotel Olimpia, you will find a 5 minute video of the whole trip.

In addition to the Olimpia we like the Ca Doge, which is a small inn-like hotel (no elevator) located right on the Piazza Roma and even closer to the port (and People Mover) then the Olimpia :).   When in Venice the Ca Doge is our home away from home.....but we are big fans of the smaller very European properties.
