Morgans Posted August 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Hotel Monte Carlo is very pleasant - you can take a Water Taxi to the port or it isnt too far from the water bus stop also to the port. It is also handy for St Marks Square (just down a small alley way.)
pink845 Posted October 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2019 We always stay at the Hilton Garden Inn which is on the bus line between Venice and the airport. We are not into paying sky high prices for hotels in Venice proper. Literally 7 minutes from the hotel is all it takes to get into Venice proper by very efficient city bus. Hotel is lovely with pool, nice restaurant and great service. We buy a pass for the water bus and travel to all the little islands. Venice is fabulous. When we want to have some peace and quiet, we jump on the bus and there we go!!!
Rare Hlitner Posted October 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2019 If you want to be near the port, in Venice, and at a convenient location then you need to stay somewhere in or near the Piazale Roma. Our "go to" place is called Ca Doge and its a small hotel (no elevator) which is more like an Inn. It is right on the P. Roma and the closest facility to the People Mover which will take you right to the port. Another popular hotel in that area is called the Best Western Olimpia. One more option is the Santa Croce (slightly more distant but close enough). As Pink mentioned, there are other options outside of Venice which will mean using a train, bus, taxi or some kind of shuttle to get into Venice. Personally, I love staying in Venice but there are some decent arguments that support the idea of staying out of town...as far away as Mestre. Rare ninjacat123 Posted October 19, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2019 We are staying at Casa Sant' Andrea before our cruise. Location, price and reviews on TripAdvisor made this the best choice for us. I was fortunate to book a room with a private bath but if you want to save more money you could share a bathroom. bennybear Posted October 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2019 We prefer to stay right in Venice, walking around at night after all the day trippers are gone is magical!
