Thinking of changing from Carnival

To FIRE, who posted above.

I would definitely NOT base my views on Princess on a low key Alaska cruise.

Much different cruise, vibe, and older passenger demographic.  For sure.

Have done Alaska, and Caribbean on Regal.  NIGHT and DAY!!!!!

Hi myself and my husband have done 10 cruises a mixture of both Mediterranean and Caribbean and on Royal but primarily Carnival. This July we took Carnival Horizon from Miami. We enjoyed the cruise but think we have out grown Carnival I just found the crowd a bit too boisterous this year and wanted something a bit more low key. We are from Ireland so we are a bit more reserved than our American Cousins 😁 so I have been looking at Caribbean Princess for next July. It is our 50th birthdays so we want something nice. We enjoy live music good food trivia and the piano bar and of course the casino. How different is Princess to Carnival? I want a bit more low key but enough to keep up entertained.

We feel the same way and yes Princess crowd is much better behaved than the drunks on Carnival with the rowdy kids .

Hubs and I have only cruised Carnival except once with RCL and I’m Platinum. Carnival in Alaska has been our top cruise by far. That being said, Princess is the only cruiseline that does the British Island itinerary I want to do. We are both in our late 40’s, and I was wondering how we would fit in on Princess. We don’t drink “much”, but love the comedy shows and the casino. The itinerary is what I’m mainly looking at , and with such a port intensive cruise, I think we would be just fine, and definitely have a great time.  It’s just so hard to switch from Carnival.  So we are weighing just a land trip to Ireland, or a fast look at those countries. So hard to choose. Our daughter graduates high school this year, and the September departure is perfect.

We started our cruising on Carnival and we had fun each cruise.  However, towards the end, the kids were running amuck, playing on the elevator, blocking stairwells, and bad mouthing anyone who asked them to move.  So, we started cruising on Princess and haven't looked back.  The difference in Carnival and Princess, older people, very few brats, more laid back, just a different clientele of people....more class is the word I'm looking for.

I had to laugh. It would be difficult for me to go back to Carnival. It would have to have an amazing itinerary.

We are now Platinum on Princess and our favorite ship so far is the Regal.

Last year, we cruised on the Celebrity Reflection for an Italy/ Greece itinerary

and we soooo LOVE Princess! Mind you, everyone's personal experiences are

different, however, we found the service in the buffet and dining room on the Reflection

to be sorely lacking. Beverages cost quite a bit more, staff not quite as warm and friendly either.

And then there is the lovely open and bright atrium on the Princess ships- in a traditional style

that we prefer.

NC-mom,   which ship?   (REGAL???)

That might make a difference.

Yes it’s on the Regal. I just put down our deposit for September 13, 2020. I am second guessing my itinerary choice. I didn’t pick the one with an overnight in Dublin. Can I switch without penalty?
