We have AMA booked for October 20. Africa ! 5 days on the river and then 10 days on safari.

Sounds like a wonderfully exotic trip:classic_biggrin:

We just returned from a Scenic Opal Budapest to Amsterdam cruise and will now start investigating which river cruise offers the least likelihood of disruption due to water levels.  We were so fortunate on this cruise as we had no issues but ships after us ran into problems.  Once I catch my breath I’ll be back researching!

AMAwaterwaysMekong with pre and post land. This next January 7-22. 2020.

This will be sixth with AMA and one China river with Viking.

Enjoy! I did this trip in 2017. Which direction are you going? I went north to south (Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City). I started with 3 nights on my own in Hanoi before I moved to the Ama hotel. At the end of the trip, we ended up with a scheduled free day in HCMC, but a day before we disembarked they announced some excursions. I had already made my own plans, because it looked like there was nothing happening, and found it a bit frustrating. However, I enjoyed doing my own thing, so I don't really regret it.
