Jcol5786 Posted September 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We have had Board Walk balcony rooms on both Oasis and Allure and have enjoyed them. Can't remember the exact decks but they are xx29 and 27. Both of these rooms were all of the way aft which we found gave us a great view of the Aqua Theatre and some view of the ocean. We are looking at a cruise on Oasis post refurb in October 2020 and have noticed that RC is no longer up charging for Board Walk balconies that are near the aft. They used to do this so I am wondering if they decided to price them all the same because of the obstruction from the water slides? Wondering if the far aft rooms are now less desirable because of their closeness to the tubes? The rooms we are considering as xx29, xx27, xx25. Any thoughts on Board Walk room selection post refurb would be appreciated. Thanks
Ashland Posted September 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2019 If your ship has the Abyss as we did on Harmony our cabins the last 4 aft on deck #9 (29, 27, 25 & 23) were obstructed by the slide. If you're sailing before the Abyss or on ships without it it would be a great view. We got a great rate when bookings were first opened for the new HOTS it was only later we found out about the Abyss...glad we tried this category but never again....just not our thing. Jcol5786 Posted September 10, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted September 10, 2019 (edited) Thanks - pretty sure that after the refurb Oasis will have the slide tubes. That is why I think these cabins are now no longer being up charged for because they are now obstructed. I'm wondering if getting a Board Balcony room that is more in the middle would make for less of an obstruction as the tubes will be further away or is the view now totally messed after this installation of the slides? mickeygirl78 Posted September 10, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We paid an up charge for the last three boardwalk rooms on Symphony (10325, 10327, 10329) with the abyss slide. While the slide does get in the way, I still loved the location and view. Here are some pics.

Jcol5786 Posted September 10, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted September 10, 2019 Interesting - for our October 2020 all of the Board Walk balconies are the same price. Haven't booked yet because we are waiting to book on our next cruise in Oct 2019 and get some OBC. Thanks for the replies and pictures.

springfire Posted September 11, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 11, 2019 We have a Boardwalk cabin in the aft on deck 10 on the Allure next week. We wanted to enjoy the cabin one last time before they add those slide tubes when Allure gets her refurb next year.
