Ace5614 Posted October 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2019 We are sailing out of Galveston on the Freedom and we are platinum and always like to be at our ports when the doors open. Does anyone know what time they open the doors and when they normally begin boarding? Thanks in advance.
ssb Posted October 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Get there early as you like , but 10:00 is reasonable time . And there is a waiting room up stairs after check in . And if ship gets cleared timely , that may start releasing you From terminal to ship around 11:00 . We usually arrive after 1:00 and walk straight on and to cabin . Key Card was on door on Enchantment our last cruise .

lifes-a-beach Posted October 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2019 Ace, I’m guessing that’s Carnival Freedom and is a Saturday departure. As SSB said, they won’t let you on until the ship is cleared anyway so take your time. Saturday traffic can be challenging.

Even on our most busy Saturdays getting on the island by noon is rarely a problem. Summer weekends are the most busy and even then taking the Harborside Drive exit solves most of that. .
lifes-a-beach Posted October 15, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2019 I suppose a better choice of words would have been that drivers can be challenging. So many who evidently don’t know where they are going, along with the usual number of stupid people and those that can’t drive day in and day out. And with Vista doing Saturday departures the numbers are pretty high.

Rare Host Kat Posted October 18, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 18, 2019 @Ace5614 You may want to check the GALVESTON.COM Calendar of Events. You might need to see if there are any festivals or events going on that Sunday at https://www.galveston.com/calendarofevents/. If there is something in or around the downtown & port area, there may be closed streets that could cause a delay in your quest to be the at the terminal when the doors open. Wishing you lots of good luck with a smooth embarkation! 🍀 Kat 🐱
