bgoff60 Posted October 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We (Group of 6 adults) will be flying into FLL airport and then getting to Miami to spent the night before boarding the next day. 2 questions: 1. Best (Least hassle) way to get to the hotel in Miami and... 2. Suggestions as to where to stay in Miami for the overnight stay. Never done the Miami port before and looking for best options. Thanks

Thanks For m3 it would depend on what time your flight arrives. If you are not arriving until late in the afternoon or early evening then save quite a bit money and stay at a hotel by the airport. If you are getting in early and want to experience Miami then choose a hotel on the beach. Taxi or Uber to get around.
ryanbarckley Posted October 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We stayed in the holiday inn port of Miami...it’s literally across the street from the port entrance. Nothing fancy about it, it’s a bit of an older property, but it got the job done and made it easy to get to the ship in the morning.
Rare brillohead Posted October 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I've enjoyed the Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon in Miami. I'm staying there again next month for my Explorer cruise, too.

Thanks There are plenty of shuttles available to reserve, or just grab at the airport in FLL to get to Miami. The last time we stayed there, we did the Holiday Inn at the port and had a nice evening walking about the Bayside area and its a quick cab to the port in the morning. Rare crewsweeper Posted October 24, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Unless there's something you really want to do in the evening in Miami or Miami Beach, there are good hotels in FLL near the airport that are most likely cheaper than anything you'd book along Biscayne Blvd or in SoBe. They have shuttles from FLL to the hotel. And you can arrange a shuttle for the embarkation date morning that gets you to the port every easily. Especially on weekends. SAS is a preferred shuttle company on these boards. Uber prices are similar.
ilovetotravel1977 Posted October 25, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2019 I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami as well and the Bayside Marketplace is right outside your door. 5 minute cab ride to port. I've also stayed at the JW Marriott Miami in Brickell. That was a great location as well. 5 minute walk to the Mary Brickell Village area and maybe a 10 minute drive to the port. Pat.D Posted October 25, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2019 A third for the "Holiday Inn Port of Miami". I was there last month and will be staying again in 3 weeks for another cruise. It's a bit of an older property, but it's clean and very well located. I also usually fly into FLL so getting to miami: Easiest: Uber Cheapest: Shuttle

SherieW321 Posted October 29, 2019 #13 Share Posted October 29, 2019 When in January? It sounds crazy but a lot of people are having issues booking hotels anywhere from west palm beach to the Keys the last week of January because the Superbowl is in Miami this year. I'm taking a 5 day out of Fort Lauderdale on February 3rd and we are fairly local - the people we are going with can't find a place to stay anywhere close.
