Premiere cruise. Is it worth it?

Hello oh great and knowledgeable CC people. Apparently I have donated way to much money to Carnival and they are now offering me a Premiere cruise rate for a cruise I am already booked on. However, the premiere cruise would cost about $340 more then the rate I am getting now (total for me and the wife). My question is, what all is included with the premiere rate and is it worth an extra $340? Right now with my current booking I have $50 OBC and drinks on us in the casino for 1 person that we would trade in for the premiere perks. Thanks for your help!

Unless your premier cruise includes a lot more cash/funplay, then I would say no. While premier cruises are fun (drawings, gifts to the cabin, cocktail party) it's not worth $340 to me.

 

I would check your premier cruise offer to see if the funplay is higher than $340. If it is, then I would switch; if it's not, I would just stay with what you've booked and enjoy spending your $340 savings in the casino.

I've been on several Premier cruises, the most recent was on the Breeze in September.  I have to say that on that cruise there were very few special games or drawings.  The drawings were actually pretty lousy - most for $200 or less in funplay.  Normally there are numerous drawings and they are normally for $500 or more.  In the past, there seemed to be a lot more games - this time, not so much.   

 

I would think that you would be offered funplay in some amount.  I agree with meatloafsfan - unless the funplay is close to or more than the difference in the cost, I would definitely not switch over.  Also, since you haven't been on a Premier, things you will encounter - long, long waits for drinks as the vast majority of the people in the casino have DOU and the waiters are super busy.  As you probably realize the casino will be more crowded than it is on normal cruises, but it is also more "lively".  Either way, have a great cruise & I hope you win big!!

Thanks guys. It is $100 in free play, which when you take away the $50 in OBC it really isn't that much of a difference.

we have been on a few and never had to pay extra if we were booked and then switched to premier. normally we have gotten between $500 and $1000 free play each and drink cards for both of us. we really enjoyed them and did not think the casino was any more crowded most of the time. the extra drawings and games were not very much and we avoided most of them because that was when the casino became more crowded. we also book under other casino rates as well as in February booked a free room and only pay fees and taxes. they will get their money some way.

1. would need enough funplay to offset the cost. Also, the casino in May was packed. Too many players, not enough machines. Even one year ago, we really enjoyed our premier offers, after this May, we said probably not for us.

I was booked on Magic for January under a dealer's choice rate. ($200 free play)  Then I noticed that cruise had changed to a premier cruise.  I emailed my pvp, and she was able to change the code from dealer's choice to premier at no extra cost.  I am now getting $1500 in freeplay, which literally is what the cruise cost, plus all the other perks of premier.  I try not to book premier cruises, as the casino is so jammed, but since I was booked anyway, and the freeplay was so amazing (most I have ever gotten was $250 freeplay) I will make do with a crowded casino.  If your offer is only $100, but you still get the drinks on us cards, drawings, party, gifts, etc., it may be worth it to you just to experience it,  even if you lose the $50 obc.  I would call up the players club and see what they can do about the price.

When they were first introduced, I booked several fares way less than average, got $300 in cash and the drawings were often exceeding $1,000.00.

 

Now the fares seem higher than early saver, I get just $100 in casino free play and the drawings are just for $200 or 300.

 

I don't drink alcohol, so I can use the DOU casino card for red bull or water, not a real draw.  I hardly go over 2,000 points on the slots per week long cruise, so I am probably comped at a bottom tier.

 

For me, the premier ain't what it used to be!

I often get offers for Premier and Getaway cruises. We were on a cruise once that was also a cruise for Elite players. I did not know this prior to booking. It was impossible to get on the machines. It was way too crowded. I decided then that I am not interested in these types of cruises.

I've been on a number of Premier Cruises and love them. However, I usually receive $500-$1,000 casino cash and deeply discounted cabin rates. The OP didn't say how much casino cash/fun play he would receive, I assume it's more than the $50 OBC on his current booking, but going on the Premier would give him free drinks for both him and his wife instead of just for him.There is a welcome aboard party with free drinks and appetizers the first day and a farewell party on the next to the last day. There are little gifts in the cabin during the week. There are special drawings all week just for the Premier guests.
