oratheeexplorer Posted November 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2019 (edited) Does anyone have any highly recommended things to do on St. Thomas? I would really like to go to St. John. Can anyone recommend a great excursion to going there? Also, is it better to go to the area with the green sea turtles or the other beach area they talk about? And through Princess or private excursion, it does not matter to us. Thank you in advance! Edited November 20, 2019 by oratheeexplorer

memoak Posted November 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2019 My favorite thing in St Thomas is lunch at the BBQ joint at the pier (Smoking Rooster I believe). Best Jalapeño Mac and Cheese in the world
WISH84 Posted November 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2019 Get off the ship as soon as you can, catch a cab to Red Hook Ferry. The ferry sets sail about every 30 minutes I think. Takes just a few minutes to get there. We hit St. John each and every time we are in St. Thomas. Spend about four or five hours at Hawksnest Beach, then shop around the pier area before heading back to the ship.
franktown Posted November 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2019 If you decide to go to St. Johns on your own just make sure you know the ferry schedules and give yourself plenty of time for the taxi back to the ship. You can google the ferry schedules. Do check out the ports of call boards.
skynight Posted November 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2019 Cruz Bay St. Johns is very small with little to do. There are taxis there that can take you to beaches, like Trunk Bay. I have been to St. Johns a few times, but always with a ship's tour. In Charlotte Amalie the ship docks at Havensight, also called West Indian Dock. There is a mall right there. The Skyride is a short walk. There are taxis that can take you downtown. A popular beach is Megan's Bay. Some like to take the ferry to Water Island for the beach, but the ferry is over by Crown Bay, maybe 20 minutes by taxi.
Rare geoherb Posted November 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2019 We went to St. John's when we had a longer time in port. When Princess ships docked in Crown Bay, we enjoyed walking to Emerald Beach. The open air taxis are plentiful. It's easy to get one to take you to any of the beaches or downtown. Lucky TGO Posted November 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2019 My wife likes to visit all the jewelry stores and spend my all money 😳 That’s why I’m The Captain of a The Rowboat and not the Captain of a cabin cruiser. 😀😀😀 2

Hopefully they return to Crown Bay sometime in the future.
PRINCESS Sweet Pea Posted November 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted November 21, 2019 This might help! I am thinking that most ship excursions involve a lot of travel time and 'shopping' time, with very little beach time.
