foxyyy Posted December 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2019 Hello. There are 18 of us sailing on the Joy, February 2 through 14, going through the Panama Canal, with a stop in Costa Rica. I've been reading some reviews and some people have said the ship is too large to stop at Costa Rica. Is this true? We have a non-cruise line excursion planned, and I really need to know if this is true. Thanks!
donaldsc Posted December 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2019 What does it say on the Norwegian WEB site? DON
foxyyy Posted December 21, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted December 21, 2019 It says Limon, Costa Rica will be one of our stops, but after reading a bunch of (bad) reviews on CC, it said they didn;t stop there. I wondered if anyone on here did this trip and if so, did you stop in Limon?
don't-use-real-name Posted December 21, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2019 The February 2-14 sailing itinerary: SHIP Norwegian Joy CRUISE PORTS Embark Miami (Florida); Willemstad (Curaçao); Kralendijk (Bonaire); Oranjestad (Aruba); Santa Marta (Colombia); Cartagena (Colombia); Panama Canal/Gatun Lake (Panama); Colón (Panama); Puerto Limon (Costa Rica); Disembark Miami (Florida) This cruise is not a full transit of the Panama Canal What were the complaints critic of the stop or no stop at Limon ? Directed at ship being too big - perhaps tender only ??? Weather related issues Port facilities deficient In adequate shore excursions More - - - - - Something would be odd here with NCL posting a scheduled port stop at Limon and skipping it ? A lot of sea days going and coming - but a very interesting itinerary
Rare BirdTravels Posted December 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2019 There are many reason a ship skips a port. The ship being too big is not one of them. Weather, wind, currents being a consideration. Consider the Carnival Glory.
jdc987 Posted December 21, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2019 We didn't stop in October, water (tide, seasonal?) was too shallow, was the explanation I recall
