Axon54 Posted December 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2019 Just booking the Princess cruise from NYC to Quebec City. Anyone had cabin B492 on the Caribbean Princess? Clear views? Do you face docks when in port? Any other comments?
capriccio Posted December 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2019 Since these questions are specific to a Princess ship and itinerary, I suggest you post on the Princess board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/

We've not been on that deck but there doesn't appear to be anything that would block your view. One never knows which side of the ship will face the dock--depends on how many other ships are there, etc. Enjoy your cruise--we liked that itinerary. satxdiver Posted December 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2019 All of the balcony cabins on decks dolphin and above do not have any obstructed views. If you are on the dolphin or caribe decks, pax in cabins above can look down on your balcony (caribe balconies are half covered). As to being on the pier side in port it all depends on how the captain decides to come alongside the pier in consultation with the port authority. The other factor is if there are two ships alongside a single pier which can be often one will be on the port side and one on the starboard side.

DrivesLikeMario Posted December 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) Why would you book a balcony on the Baja Deck? You can get so much more room on the Caribe Deck! I would never book Baja. If it's a completely covered small balcony that you want, then go for it but even the much bigger Caribe Deck balconies have some overhang. Newbies always think the higher deck the cabin is on, the better the cabin. That is not the case. lovcruzing Posted December 23, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 23, 2019 Category M1 on Baja also has mini suites with bigger balconies
Rare KYBOB Posted December 24, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 24, 2019 I do not know if this will influence your decision but you will be on the wrong side to see the Statue of Liberty as you sail out of New York Harbor. It is on the odd number cabin side (Starboard). We were in B409 and had a great view of the statue as we sailed by was an amazing sight. Also the night skyline of New York. We did this voyage in August. Really don't remember which side faced the dock as we were off shore side, not resting on the balcony. How the ship docks is based on tide and other conditions and can change. There is only one desk chair in all balcony cat. cabins. If you wish to have another chair request one from the cabin steward on boarding day. Balconies have two chairs and a small table.
