Riversedge Posted January 3, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2020 They are probably referring to the 40’’ private boat that ran up on the rocks. Not a cruise ship unless it’s something different. We saw it on the news.
canadianbear Posted January 3, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2020 I tried to attach a link but can’t figure out how-there was a photo too. Here is a brief blurb: FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Four people have been injured but are expected to be OK after a boat crashed into a jetty near Fort Lauderdale. Broward Sheriff, Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews all responded to the scene near South Ocean Lane just after 12 a.m., Tuesday. 7SkyForce HD hovered above the 4-engine, 42-foot center console vessel as it faced upwards along the rocks. This is what I just read on line: Just after midnight on Tuesday, the group of four ran into the south side of a Hollywood fishing jetty at high speed. Two of the four were ejected from the 42-foot boat, one sustaining a serious bodily injury, according to the injury report. The four injured were Daniel Towriss, 47, of Zionsville, Lauren Silagy, 32, of McCodsville, Jarret Silagy, 39, of McCordsville and Cassidy Rudman, 25, of Indianapolis. Three of the passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, one with serious bodily injury. The boat was attempting to enter the Port Everglade inlet when it struck the jetty, according to FWC. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Towriss is the president of the Indianapolis-based Delaware Life Insurance company. He and his wife purchased a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $10.4 million in 2016, according to our ABC affiliate
jakkojakko Posted January 3, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2020 Doesn't look like it will impact any cruise departures/arrivals.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 3, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2020 This accident was on our local news. They showed a couple of big rigs working to get that boat off the rocks -- not cheap.
Rare puppycanducruise Posted January 3, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 3, 2020 It might be interesting watching them get the boat off the rocks. I sure wouldn't want to pay that bill.
