Narita Airport to Yokohama

Recommended Posts

The cheapest method is walking - but not recommended.

Next would be a local JR train - from the basement of your Narita Terminal to Yokohama Station.Cost is less than US$10 per person. And it is slow. Probably take you around 3 or 4 hours.

Next would be a Limousine Bus - from your arrival hall at Narita to Yokohama Station and / or local Yokohama Hotels. Cost around US$30 per person. Travel time about 2 hours.

Next is Narita Express Train - from the basement of your terminal at Narita to Yokohama Station. Cost is around US$40 per person. Travel time is 90 minutes.

Any advice welcome.   What is the cheapest method?  Thank you

check out maps.google.com

They recommend these options as least walking, but still requires a 20 minute walk.  I might opt for a taxi since you'll be with luggage.  https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Narita+International+Airport+(NRT),+1-1+Furugome,+Narita,+Chiba+282-0004,+Japan/Yokohama+Port,+Yamashitacho,+Naka+Ward,+Yokohama,+Kanagawa,+Japan/@35.6246662,139.7269563,10z/am=t/data=!4m16!4m15!1m5!1m1!1s0x6022f379d1bd3757:0xd56e29a162771aa1!2m2!1d140.3928501!2d35.7719867!1m5!1m1!1s0x60185d122a646923:0xba92862bf1ce2b49!2m2!1d139.6649408!2d35.449818!2m1!4e3!3e3

You can get a driver booked on Klook at $$

Would you give me details please.   What line is it?   Does it require a change?  If so where?

Thank you.

Casofilia,

This would be a local Japan Railways train. There are many of them. Some might take you just a few miles; some might go all the way to Yokohama. They generally stop at every station on the way, so are very slow and very inexpensive. Going from Narita to Yokohama would most likely require several changes. All the details would change depending on the time of day you are traveling.

If you go to a website app like Rome2Rio and enter your starting and ending points, you can get all the possibilities and details.

The Limousine Bus is the way to go!  It is reasonably cheap, and it may drop off right at your hotel, or very close.

A taxi from Narita to Yokohama is super expensive.  A train is cheaper, but you have your luggage with you.  And if it is during commute hours, that may be a nightmare.

If traveling from Narita to a Yokohama hotel, the decision is a no-brainer.  Take the Limousine Bus

Thank you for peoples help.    I found Hyperdia.com and that gave me 5 options by train.   I will look again much closer to the time we are travelling and see what appears then.   There is one that is cheap, with 1 change, and only a little slower than the Narita Express etc options.

We did this last year and will be doing it again next year

Easiest option we found was limousine bus its cheaper and especially if you are a senior citizen they store your luggage under the bus and off you go

We are in our sixties and found it very easy as the desk for the bus tickets is very easy to find in the airport

casofilia - It's not a good idea to use local JR & other trains if you have more than a backpack.

A better idea is to see if you can fly into Haneda.

The Limosine Bus is just a coach service but efficient & easy to use.

I flew into Haneda with Singapore Airlines - got the Limosine bus to their terminal & then another connection direct to the Prince Hotel at Shin Yokohama on the Shinkansen Line.

Limosine Bus have a web site that shows the routes they have.

YCAT is the nearest to Yokohama port & hotels in that area, but some stop at some of the hotels on the way in.

I agree that Haneda would be preferable to Narita but Air New Zealand does not fly direct to Haneda.  It did last time we flew to Tokyo and it was perfect as we could get to our hotel without a change of train.   We actually don't stop in Yokohama but at the Best Western Yokohama which is in Tsurumi.

How long does it take to get through customs and pick up baggage at Narita? My flight lands at 19:00, would I be able to catch the last limousine bus to Minatorimai area of Yokohama that leaves about 21:00?

Waiting times can vary dramatically based on the number of flights that are arriving at the same time. Typically - if you have all your  papers completed and in order - the wait for foreigners to get through immigration at Narita is much quicker than going through  immigration in the USA. You can expect to take about 20 minutes on average. By the time you get through immigration, your bags should already be on the carousel, one floor down. Customs is quick and painless. The entire process should take a bit less than 45 minutes.

When you exit Customs, the desk selling Limousine Bus tickets will be directly in front of you. The bus stops are located just outside the door - about a two minute walk.

Thanks BruceMuzz!  I had thought of spending the night in Narita after flight, but saw the Limousine Bus drops at the hotel we chose in Yokohama, seemed just as easy to take it instead, as long as we can make it!

I notice that tickets for the Limousin bus can be purchased online - are there any advantages/disadvantages in doing so???

And it's probably also the easiest way back as our flight is too early to use cruise line transportation

Is there any transfer to the Yokohama City Air Terminal from the cruise port?

When we were there last debarkation was shambolic as we were not at the main Osanbashi cruise dock.   There were free buses and the queues were enormous.

We actually walked to the train station, just a different one, same distance and easy.

As we have to be at the airport around 9 a.m. the easiest way seems to be to take a cab to the Yokohama City Terminal and then change to the Airport Limousine Bus. Maybe see whether we can arrange the cab before we leave on cruise, will make it a more relaxing cruise...
