Disembarking Day Question

Oh yeah...they want everyone to leave ASAP....  About midway thru the cruise, they ask those with early flight to let them know, so they can put you in one of the 1st groups off, assuming you aren't doing "self-carry" off the ship.

We are planning an Alaskan cruise on Princess Ruby in August.  The ship returns to Seattle at 7am.  Is it safe to say we would be off the ship by 9am for purposes of booking a flight home?

No, it is not “safe to say” that.  It is probable, but there is always a chance that a slight delay in reaching the port or in processing debarking passengers can result in a scheduled 7AM return to port not getting passengers off before 10AM or so.

For some reason the Ruby Princess has been slow in getting passengers off the ship the last two seasons.(at least in Seattle).  Please don't assume that you will be off the ship by 9 AM.  Also, SeaTac is crazy busy in the summer, and August is the busiest month. Give yourself enough time to get to the airport and expect long TSA security lines.   Please consider using the free luggage transfer service (Port of Seattle's) Port Valet if your flight home qualifies

The other option is to 'self assist' and carry your own bags off the ship and head directly to whatever ground transportation you are planning on using.

Howdy @dtripli and welcome back to Cruise Critic!! emo22.gif I see it has been a while since you posted on the boards.

Thank you for your new thread on the Ask a Cruise Question forum that is for general questions about cruising. 👍

Since your thread concerns a specific cruise line and their timeline for disembarkation in Seattle, I have moved your thread to the Princess Cruises forum where it will be on-topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed Princess frequent this forum. I feel sure any member that has debarked in Seattle will be happy to provide feedback.

And don't forget, after your cruise be sure to go to our Member Cruise Reviews section and submit your review for publication. Many cruisers will benefit from your experience, and you might win a prize from Cruise Critic! emo34.gif See the latest list of winners: Write a Review and You May Win a Prize Like These Members Did! (January 9, 2020)

I sincerely hope this will be satisfactory and glad to have you back aboard Cruise Critic! emo35.gif

Happy sails,

Host Kat emo32.gif

I'd say it's safe to assume that most cruises you'll be off by that time.

With over 100 cruises we've never once been later than 7:30 AM returning to any port.

If you feel nervous about the arrival time then do a walk off to make sure there's sufficient time to reach your flight.
