sue00p Posted January 12, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2020 G'day all... I'll be on the Noordam early Feb. Has anyone done the Waiheke Island tour out of Auckland? Interested in opinions please. TIA 🙂
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 12, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2020 It is a wonderful island for a day tour, many wineries to try. I wouldn't risk doing it on a port day though. I would be going on the 8am ferry and back on the 6pm.
pjwaz Posted January 13, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2020 We were a little disappointed in Waiheke Island. Mainly because it was cloudy, a few sprinkles and the HOHO bus was sold out. I never thought to book that ahead of time. We took the city bus but only went to 2 locations.
Kiwi Kruzer Posted January 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Waiheke gets very busy over the summer . Best idea is to book a tour ahead of time .Some of the wineries and points of interest are a fair walk from the HoHo bus stops.
3Shelaghs Posted January 21, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2020 Catch the ferry where the cruise ship docks. Walk over to the car rental, and enjoy the island. One of the most beautiful places on the planet. See the beaches, have lunch and a sip downtown, visit the wineries. Drop the car off, walk to the ferry and step off at the cruise port. Janet987 Posted January 22, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2020 We are booked on a 6hr Food and Wine Tour for my birthday. Our travel agent raved about it...and she wasn't even selling the tour, bought it directly. If I'm to enjoy the wine, want a driver to deliver me back to the ferry. 😉

pink845 Posted January 28, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2020 3 Shelaghs, You rented a car. Did you pay for what is called Excess to cover all perils? We would love to rent a car and do what you did. But we are very risk averse. Who did you rent with on the island? and may we ask the cost.
