Norway vs Iceland

Recommended Posts

Iceland is easy to do as a land vacation as there are roads from all points to all points.  Seeing it on a cruise is great, but you are always going to be in a crowd.  On your own you can get to solitude fairly easily

Norway is much harder to do via car due to size and remoteness of towns

We did an Iceland/Norway cruise a couple of years ago. It was our best cruise ever! Loved both but would personally choose the Iceland cruise as we also loved Shetland and a great opportunity to see Skye and Belfast.  Then book Norway next year!

Debating between 2 cruises that carnival offers. Would you do 4 ports in Iceland, and Isle of Skye,Belfast, and Shetland Islands or A Norway cruise?

We did most of the ports that you mentioned last year and you may want at our photo review beginning with post # 183 .

We would recommend the first cruise and do Norway another time .

Love the opinions, please keep the feedback coming!

I loved this response the most.  I tried to convince my husband the only solution is a back to back and then we do both but so far he hasn't given the go ahead! Perhaps just booking the next year solves the problem!

Iceland is such popular destination these days that the major sights can be pretty crowded even if there isn't a cruise visiting the area.

In Norway there is then also option to travel by train and there is quite large number of regional airports, which could be used to avoid long drives. But for experiencing Norwegian fjords it is probably best to travel by sea.

for Golden Circle and popular south coast sites this is true. But once you get away from the Too seven or so attractions it is quite easy to find quiet places and attractions
